We have an 8 inch diff with 4 lug axles and 9 inch drums. The info I have accessed identifies the flange bolt pattern as a 7.25 diff. used in late 60's falcon applications. Falcon station wagons had 10 inch drums. Does anyone know the bolt patterns on these drums/axles ?
Thanks Craig. To clarify my question I wanted to know if falcon wagons had 4 or five lug patterns . From info I have gained since it appears they were 5 lug which does'nt help our project.
Check out drums listed on Rockauto... Raybestos 2640R is shown as 4 lug with 2.25" brakes... http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...200cid+l6,1332807,brake+&+wheel+hub,drum,1744
I would bet that Falcons had 4 bolt axles if a six cylinder and 5 bolt if V8. Very common for Ford to do that. I even saw a 1970 Mustang Fastback for sale with 4 bolt wheels (6 cylinder motor) ....and the price was way too high ...
Thanks for all your replies. The problem with the odd flange bolt pattern and 4 lug axles might have to be solved at the machine shop. I will be going to the get together in Somerset KY in July so I can see first hand what others have done.
Yeah all the 170(64½) & 200 Stangs used 4 lug through 1970... The '69/'70 250 had 5 lug, and was only the 6cyl avail '71/'73... I believe was same for Falcon but they never had 250 as option('70½ excepted), not sure about the Wagons & Ranchero...
We'll keep working on the rear brake set up. In the mean time here's another question. Moving to the front brakes has anyone installed SSBC disc brake conversion kit A120-4 and how did it go ?
