Is it possible to have power windows and locks installed on a '73? Have any of you done or heard of this being done?
We had an article in our news letter last year on how to install power windows written by Tom Hackman. I'm sure there's an MCCI member in your area than can zerox a copy.
this is one of the companies that advertise in street rodder. www.autoloc.com phone number is 1-800-873-4038 probably more in there but this is the first i saw.
Power locks are easy. I retrofitted units from a 93 Mustang into my Mav. The hardest part was deciding where to put the switch and then building a relay for it. Sam
JC Whitney has everthing in one kit. http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/CatalogOrderSearch?sku=power+locks&storeId=10101&catalogId=10101
I'm in the process now of putting power locks, windows and trunk in mine. The locks and trunk will eventually be remotely operated. Using aftermarket Spal parts I got off eBay cheap.
Anything is possible if you throw enough time and $$$ at it I have power windows, door locks trunk opener, mirrors, rear view mirror, steering and brakes.. Thomas Hackmann made the power window regulators for me by welding motor mounts to Mav regulators(as per the article in Shorthorns). I used one of the JC Whitney kits for the locks, and a power trunk release from a Lincoln.... I mounted the switches for the windows and mirrors in an aftermarket center console, and the locks right in the doors.(The locks are also operated by a keypad on the door and a wireless remote)
