Well I think I have fianlly found the right motor for my Mavaerick. I have found a boat with a Boss 429 for sale here in town. Haven't seen it yet but I have talked to the lady that owns it and am meeting her at 12:00 to see it. I can't wait. I will post more when I actually see it. It has been one of those rumours around here for awhile.

    New front end

Sounds like the way to go. The local speed shop here where I live has been dynoing motors for years, the high horse power crown belongs to a 429 Boss. (I think it was more like a 600 Boss but a Boss none the less.)

You may need a Mustang II front end for all the needed room you are going to need.

    Good luck

You are going have to go with the Mustang II suspension. I measured my Boss 429 it's 30 inches wide, the shocks on the Mav are 30 inches apart My engine guy told me with the roller cam that I am using it should make around 750 hp.

I actually have already built a control arm suspension for my Mav, but the engine it turns out has sat in a boat for 7 years without being ran and the last time they worked on it they had to epoxy the complete bottom of the heads and machine them because of corrosion. I trhink that motor is a water leak waiting to happen.

Those engines use dry deck sealing. Did they use the epoxy to fill the grooves? If they did you could have them welded up and milled and use a regular head gasket. I did this on my boss it works allot better than the o-ring set up. I think it is worth getting and fixing.

Steve I had been meaning to email you to see how it was going, glad to see you're still around. Hey got a favor to ask, could you send a pic of the boat? I used to a 100mph big block ford, Cole hull, v-drive. A boat like that can really get your blood pumping. Anyways what did they want for the boat with that motor if you don't care if we know? You ought to post another pic of your frontend completed so they could see what you've done, it is really unique.

BossMaverick, is that motor going in that red Mav in the background? Should be one wild ride.

Bossmav(terry), I'm still gathering parts for my bogus boss, but it is going steady, should start some machine work this month.

Hi Ward. Yeah, still here just been real busy. We had a dual engine change on one of the helicopters and in the middle we decided to build new engine wiring harnesses. And then we are getting our new one ready for a helicopter convention in Dallas for a week. So I haven't had a lot of time. I will see if I can get a picture of the boat. It is an early Hallet offset I believe.

And as far as the heads, they did epoxy them and use head gaskets. The machine shop that did it was actually told to do this by a Boss 429 builder I believe. If you say this is better then maybe I will rethink the whole thing through. They are asking 15000.00 for the boat. The clear is coming off in a few places. But it is in fair shape.
