Well I got the 302 in yesterday, I wound up stabbing the engine and tranny in together; much easier. I had a few problems, had to trim the double hump tranny crossmember for my 69.5, also the torque converter didn't match my flexplate, had to get a 164 tooth flexplate, but all in all it was a breeze and my help bailed on me so I had it all by myself. I still have to put all the fluids in and buy a starter. Oh buy the way the Tri-Y headers are a breeze to install, you can almost throw them in, although I had to massage 1 tube, the steering arm was rubbing it. I will get some pics out this evening.
wtg. i also had to play the match game with the flexplate. i now have both size flexplates and convertors and bellhousings. $$$$$$$ also have pre 1970 trannys and later c-4's also.
Awesome! Can't wait to see pics. Man I know how them flex plates are. Been in the process of swapping out my blown 360 in my F-250, bent the flexplate while lifting the engine out. Man, you wouldn't believe how hard it is to find a flex plate for an old 360! Been to about 8 junkyards in NC, GA, AL and SC without luck.
She breathes fire She turned over 3 times and came to life ! Man does it sound awsome with open headers !!!! It actually raises the front end when I take off, I forgot how much power a V-8 has in a light car.......it's been about 10 years since I had a V-8, especially one with 300 HP. This swap was really easy after all the parts hunting, I figured it would be a nightmare going in but I really had no other problems other than the ones listed above. The cam was a perfect pick, not too lopey but plenty of power, I guess the ported heads probably doesn't hurt either. Now I need to descide on exhaust, thinking about just regular turbo mufflers, I had Flows on my 87 Mustang but it was too loud. Any suggestions? :bananaman :bananaman :bananaman
I was thinking about Tri-Y's when I built my Grabber but was afraid they wouldn't clear the Manual Tranny z-bar and linkage ..
