Anyone here with a small block ford and the ac compressor mounted on the passenger side? We will shortly be resurrecting the ac in the Comet with an aftermarket kit and if possible I would prefer the compressor on the same side of the car where the hoses are on the firewall. We have all the factory brackets for the drivers side but I thought it might be a cleaner installation on the passenger side.

The 302 town cars had the compressor on the right.

Where will the alternator be located?

Same side, either above or below the compressor depending on what ac brackets I can find.

Interesting. I like to see how you accomplish it - don't believe I have ever seen that setup.

The easiest factory install would probably be to use '86-'91 Crown Vic/Grand Marquis setup(likely same as Town Car)...

It mounts A/C compressor on upper right with smog pump below... With a little adapting, I'll guess the alt can replace smog pump... Normally the Alt is on driver side with P/S pump below...

Note this is a serpentine belt setup(actually two) but unlike Mustang, T-Bird etc, uses a std rotation water pump...

March serpentine system and custom hoses. Classic Auto Air universal system.

That is the exact system I was contemplating for the Comet. Are you using factory controls or CAA's controls?

It took some fabricating but I used the factory controls.

You going w/ aftermarket AC too? Is your car equipped w/ Factory AC?

It is/was a factory ac car, but I prefer an updated system over gathering and reconditioning parts. All the underhood components are missing and all the interior ones are in need of replacement/restoration.
