Hello, I just bought a 302 engine to put in my 1971 maverick which has a 250 straight 6. The guy is helping me out but I have to buy any parts I need. he says all I need to get him is the motor mounts (which I already got) and a transmission front seal.

I don't know enough about transmissions to know what he's talking about, or this part goes by another name.. I assume this is the gasket that goes between the engine and the transmission? help!

    rick,
this is a basic "to do" anytime you have the tranny out (y) . it's a $2 part that can save a $100 bucks or more later...frank...

yeah I figured that's what it was.. I was looking on rockauto.com but I couldn't find a match for "front seal".. is there a technical term for this? any suggestions on where I could buy it, and what term to use?

actually its called a front pump seal. trans shop should have one laying around, or definitely a ford parts department, i would think. C-4 & C-6 take the same front pump seal, if my memory is correct.
