I did some searching and found a few suggestions, but the one that seemed the most promising was this one from this thread:

    http://mmb.maverick.to/threads/modern-wiper-arms.96709/#post-987836

It was mentioned the wiper arms were from an 89 Escort. I did some web searching and found a Dorman part number 42620, which can be purchased at Rock Auto, O'Reily's, Advance Auto Parts and Autozone. I was just wondering, was this a plug & play with no modifications necessary? Is the arm the same length as the old style arms supplied on our cars?

It would sure make getting replacement wiper blades much easier, and I like the fact that they are black.

Anybody have experience with these that can chime in.....?

Nothing wrong with the original wiper arms. I had mine powdercoated black and put 17-inch blades on them (stock is 16-inch). I know a guy who did the same thing but used a 18-inch blade on the driver side and 17-inch on passenger side.

Happy to report the #42620 wiper arm fits perfectly, and I bought some simple "old style" metal wiper blades to complete the transformation.

I like those! You say, the blades in this post are "old style"? They look like modern style. What's the part # on the blades?

thing about most blades now is you have to buy a pair at a time. my new truck takes two different Lengths so I had to buy one of each Length. now I have an extra set @$30 a set...:slap:

Mojo, what I meant in "old style" was the fact that they are the "metal frame / spring arm" type, and not the fancy "aerodynamic solid beam" type (didn't think those would look good on a classic car...). Anyway, now you can pretty much go to any auto-parts store and get new wiper blades that will fit these #42620 wiper arms.

I'm more than happy with the '70s OEM type blades I bought at Walmart for $3.37.

Bought blades for two cars for less than $14.

NAPA sells retro silver blades that match our original arms but work better.
