Hi everyone, I'm looking for some information on headlight bucket mounting clips or bearings. I have a 73 Comet, it had the little round like push pin type plastic bearing things that go in the hole in fender behind the headlight bucket. I've installed new fenders from Melvins Classic Ford parts, early model small bumper new fenders, they do not have the holes for the small push pin type bearing things that go behind the headlight buckets. From what i understand they take the rectangular ones that are on Melvins site but are discontinued. Of course I may be wrong, does anyone have a picture of their headlight buckets, etc in an early small bumper car? This information seems to be very hard to find, lol. Thank you.

Jeff and I have a salvage yard that has 12 mavericks, anytime we needed to know how something came apart we would go there and take it off one of those...that way if there were any hidden clips, bolts or screws we would find them there before we broke something on ours...:thumbs2:

70-74 Headlight Bucket Bumpers (1st pic) vs 75-77 Headlight Bucket Bumpers (2nd pic). Notice the size of hole that the bucket fits into on the fender. This difference also effects the size of the bucket. (3rd pic), early bucket on left side...late bucket on right. Also notice the headlight adjusting screw location differences...early cars are on top of headlight, later on bottom. Different headlight bezel/trim were used to go along with this change.

Maybe post up a picture of what the headlight area looks like on a new repop fender and we can tell you which ones you need.

Thank you rthomas771, those pics are exactly what I was looking for. My fenders had the little early knub style on left, and early buckets. New fenders also have save adjustment mounting locations and big hole. My only guess is that new fenders do not have holes made for bucket bumpers, I may have to drill them out. I will post pic of new fenders as soon as i can. You guys are awesome.

Below are the different styles used on the Maverick/Comet with Ford part numbers in parenthesis. At present, I do not believe any style is available as a repop.

Anybody ever find a source for the plastic headlamp bucket bearings? I'm needing some for my '70.

Thanks BKelley. The 70-73 ones are what I've been looking for. Could not find pic of them. Don't know where to buy them.
