I did a search but I couldn't find the exact answers I was looking for. So I was sitting in my car today thinking about what all I need/wanted to do and while looking around I realized the lack of room I will have if I decide to switch to a console shift if I keep the stock seats in my car. Maybe I just have short arms, but with the stock seats back as far as they'll go I would have to full extend my arm while leaning forward in order to shift. So I thought "Damn, there goes that idea." Well, while searching the forums I noticed quite a few of you have opted for bucket seats. I think this is the way I'd like to go. Now for my questions; What kind of tracks will I need to purchase for my car in order for bucket seats to fit? What style of bucket seats will look best in the older cars? Will newer style seats fit, or should I start shopping around at the wrecking yards for older style seats? What seats have you put in that you have found look good? Can any of you share pictures of your cars that have bucket seats installed? Thanks folks, sorry if I'm asking questions that are asked frequently!
The only tracks that are truly bolt in are other Mav/Com tracks. Then you need a set to match your car type, either cat or non cat. Anything else will require some degree of modification.
More than likely a stupid question, but one I don't know the answer to; How do i tell if it's cat or non cat?
If it's a "cat" (catalytic converter) you will have a hump in your floorboard to make room underneath the car for the cat converter. If you don't have a hump then you just find seat tracks from a mav/comet that is also minus the hump. If you do have a hump, try to find a mav/comet with a hump. The seat tracks account for the hump in cat cars. Does this help or even make sense?? Good Luck, Preston
