NOS blackjack hearders #85042 for a '66-'71 Falcon,Torino,Comet, Montego,Ranchero with a 289,302 or 351W. These headers should also fit a Maverick wouldn't they?? Sence the comet amd mave are pretty much the same car.

    Hey jap,

I don't believe that the Comet listed in Blackjack header applications is the comets you'll find here. Mercury used the Comet name on a much larger model car in the early 60's. I don't believe those would fit. Search the threads here. Most everyone here seems to endorse the Hooker 6901 or headman 88-300 or 88-400. The 6901's fit fine for me. Note to all - INTSALL THE DRIVER'S SIDE FIRST

This is true. However, you gotta keep in mind that a lot of the other models were bigger cars with more room under the hood. These headers just happen to fit the tight confines of the Maverick engine bay. But just because these headers fit the Mavericks/Comets that we drive AND other larger vehicles, does NOT mean that all other headers will do the same thing. What Townsman was explaining was that the older Comets were a good bit bigger than the '71-77 Comets and '70-77 Mavericks, so most of the headers that were/are available for the other cars WILL NOT fit a Maverick or '71-77 Comet. Does this help?? Take care, Preston
