Any idea how many holes beneath the chrome side trim on 73+? It's a shame to hide that nice body line.

    Cheers.

If you are talking about the LDO trim, chrome w/color pad insert, only has 2 holes on either end the rest has raised
"pins" approx. 6 of them. So unfortunately, if you want to see that nice body line, you will have to grind off the "pins" and fill in the 2 holes, then repaint..........that's just on the doors, the rear quarter and front fenders all have holes.

Thanks. I knew a repaint would be required just wasn't sure about body repair.

Is that for all the trim pieces? On the standard rub strips for the non LDO cars there are a lot more holes that that, The door only has two but the quarters and the front fenders are mostly holes.

We eliminated the side trim on our '74 Comet. I can't remember how many holes were left after removing the clips, but we filled them with fiberglass.
    Here's the result...

Info needed, retired guy here with my 71comet. I got side molding off fairly easy but now i got 20 plus holes to tig weld or glass over. The trim around the windows needs removing. Any good suggestions? Molding looks really good on entire car. 69,000 miles. All original. 200-6cyl. Runs. I just need a carb and new fuel tank.

Good morning ☀️, iam looking for a 1 bbl carb . Iam also trying to find everything to change hubs to 5 lug. Comets are getting harder to find. They out but you sure have to inspect all shelters and wood lines.

carbs like the Carter YFA in pic - rebuild kits, used carbs, knockoffs are widely available for the inline Ford small block six.
    .
'71 4 lug used the short lived 4 Lug 8 " that can use same internals like Posi' as venerable 9" Ford rear but uses unique axle housing for different hub size bearings - SO - 5 lug - 8" axles don't fit in the 4 Lug 8" axle housing. Re-drilling flange may be 5 lug option ?
    .
Swapping to later spindles and hubs etc is typical for 5 lug front wheel swap .
