I'm pretty sure they sent me the wrong coil. When I ordered the description said this coil would work with the petronix electronic points replacement. Does anyone know if this is the correct coil for this setup?

Flame-Thrower II is the correct coil for the the PerTronix system. There shouldn’t be an issue running the igniter I with the FTII. Normally I would just run it with a FTI though.

I thought I ran this same set up before but couldnt remember. The worry I have is the instructions say not to use FT2 with the original petronix....yet doesnt describe what that is. Also it says .6 ohms for the coil...yet the distributor module calls for 1.5. I'm confused.

If it says not to use the FTII then I would follow the instructions and return the coil for a FTI.

AC-191 is Ignitor 1 - uses FT1 coil / to run the FT2 coil you need the Ignitor 2 which is a 9AC-181 - if you have any doubts about what is compatible, Pertronix help line will get you right to a tech rep that can help with any questions.

The original Pertronix lacks any dwell control, meaning without a inline resistor(such as used with points) it will overheat some coils. My P-I overheated the original coil on my Cobra using the resistor.

As far as the low resistance FT2, it would likely overheat the module.

The original Pertronix requires a minimum 1.5 ohm primary. You can add a series resistor if your coil resistance is too low but you're wasting energy in the resistor.
