Looking for some advice from everyone. I have two options.
A 1973 maverick that’s solid with no glass great paint and a stroker 347. I was able to test drive this car. It drove straight, nice and fast. Speakers have been cut into the back seat panels and upfront. All Maverick emblems have been removed. Seats and dash both look great. $16k
    Or
1973 maverick grabber with the 302 rebuilt that is also solid, no glass, great paint but all original for $1000 more than the 73. I can’t test drive this one without a 6 hour drive. Seats and dash look great. $17k

My question is, is a rebuilt 302 as good as the new Stroker 347.
Is the 302 as powerful and fast as the 347. Sorry, I don’t have rebuild details on the 302.
Is an all original car actually worth more?
I am looking for a cruiser that drives great, sounds great and has some punch, but no plans for racing or a track.
    Thanks everyone!

Without test driving the 302 car there is really no way to fairly give you an idea of which you like the best, I can tell you that the 347 will be more powerful (hp) than the 302 but if the 347 was not built right then it may not last as long as the 302. Grabbers are always preferred over a plain Maverick even though the 73 would just have a spoiler and not a scooped hood unless somebody added it . As far as fast goes these cars were not meant to go fast or corner good or stop good without some modifications . As far as an original car being worth more that is hard to answer as a nicely modified car can be of more value than a original after all these are just Mavericks and not a collector car and the money put into them to make them really nice will never be recouped if you sell it later down the road

You will have to go with your gut feeling but if it were me I would make the 6 hour drive and check out the 302 car

Why? By no glass, I mean no bondo.

You do realize that most cars came from the factory with at least a little “bondo”? So I can’t believe one that’s been repainted has “no bondo”.

That clears a lot up, glass to me is either windows or fiberglass mat and resin. Did seem odd you'd find two cars with no windows!

"Looking for some advice from everyone."

understand the...no glass comment now. I take it you are looking for a turnkey car.
...a 347 is just an overbored 302 if not done correctly.
..all original ... means a lot of 46 year old parts, seals and pieces that need to be replaced...:yup:
...I would not pay more than 10K for any mav/comet with just a rebuilt 302 in it.
    ...5.0 roller... AOD minimun...JMO

    pictures would help

    two clean looking cars...:thumbs2:
the 74 is a big bumper and not as desirable.
does the A/C work in both cars?

I would have to go with the 73 more bang for the buck and like the color scheme better, not a fan of the rear spoiler. The car wont stay at the $9,000 last minute snipers will bump it up so make up your mind what you are willing to pay and put your bid in at the last minute.

Good luck, there seem to be lots of Mavericks showing up but finding one near you is always the hard part
