I replace my voltage regulator today and there was what looked like a condenser mounted to one of the bolts that held the regulator to the fender well. The wire coming from it was not connected to anything. Can someone tell me what it's for?

    Thanks.

Normally there to reduce electrical system noise in the AM radio.

Fifty year old condensers are usually bad.

Radio condenser. It plugs into the voltage regulator harness.

Another thing, is there a fuse for the alternator? I installed a new voltage regulator yesterday and now my alternator light is on when I start it. Not sure how to check it.
