The only difference in the hood stripe is that the 71 is one solid stripe with a pin stripe around it. The 72 is two stripes with a pin stripe around them both. The seperation between the two stripes on a 72 is about the width of the pin stripe....not much.

Well I am new so I diddnt know there was a difference between the the 71 and 72. I will post a picture as soon as I get the scanner or camera. I love the car though. It's my first pre-smog almost- muscle car. I also have an 86 SVO thats heavily modded and I still drive the Maverick more. In the SVOs defense the guy who had it before me lowered it over 2" and it rides pretty hard. (Just got the springs to bring it back to stock height) But with the boost turned up it makes about 300 HP at the wheels so it's pretty
intense. I hope to tastfully modify the Maverick and enjoy it for a long time.

My car is a `72 ,with the original paint job, and it has lime green
side stripes with dark green pin stipes around them.
I also have a `71 6 cyl 4 lug grabber that has never been painted
and it is white with black stripes surrounded by red pinstripes
(they are reflective) . Both cars have a grabber grill of coarse. I dont think my stripes will show up very good in this pic but here it is anyway.
