I'm going to be selling my dad's two Mavericks. I'm kind stumped as to what a reasonable asking price would be, and I'd like to get some advice about this. My dad died recently, and he was getting prepared to do a build on the blue one, so it's in a project car sort of state. It's a 69 and 1/2 with a 170 inline 6, and it was his college car. He was in the middle of changing the column shifter to a floor shifter. I've been finding quite a number of parts for it, and I'm still process of locating and organizing them all. Some of these include fiberglass body panels, body working and welding tools, and restorations parts. I even found headers and a blower that I think is an Eaton M90. If it was feasible for me, I'd want to keep it and continue the build, but it's just not realistic right now. I'd like them to go to someone who can do something with them. The yellow one is a 72 with a 170 inline 6. It has rust problems, and I think it's best sold a parts car. I think it would probably be some serious work to repair all the rust damage. I've already had more than one guy that owns an autoshop stop buy and ask about them. A friend who's a fabricator came by and looked at them. He's pretty well connected, and he knows a lot of old Ford guys. So far it's looking like I'll do better than just sending them to the junkyard.
Sorry about the loss of your Father. Do not call the crusher! I think your friends that know cars can help you the best. Maybe try a Craigslist ad looking for someone to buy it all once you have an idea on price. There is not a lot of money there because of the work involved. Just from the pictures, yes the yellow car looks like a parts car. The blue one has potential but without seeing it in person AND not knowing California pricing compared to Wisconsin pricing, I hazard to guess at value. Again, this is where your car buddies can help you the most. Looks like a bunch of interesting parts in the tubs too. Good luck!
I just discovered this site: http://www.fordmaverickforsale.com It looks like cars in similar condition are selling for $1000 to $4000. I think with all the extra parts along with the blower and headers, I can charge a bit more than the lower end. My friend suggested selling both cars together with the yellow one being the parts car. There a lot of suspension parts in these bin that I'm still sorting through. I wish manufacturers could put more information on the boxes than just a part number.
