"how do i lower my maverick?"

ok i know this question comes up often so, i thought i'd make a page on my webstie on what i did. this way i can sent people driectly to it so i or someone else doesn't need to keep saying the same thing over and over again. you know sort of like what is the biggest tire i can fit under my car questions!

some of you might thing what i wrote you probably woundn't do to a maverick. however i did this from the stand point of the avg. person asking how, what and which way one should lower the front end of a maverick.

    so heres my :2cents:

    http://www.maverickman.com/Suspension.html?998088949680

let me know what you think. if something you think can be added to make it "more better" get it? "MORE Better" :biglaugh: let me know. remember its not an install on how to cut springs or how you pull springs out but more along the lines of "what should i do to lower the car?"

in addtion after you read it I would like to ask if anyone has pictures of the following:

mustang II front end on a maverick

relocated upper contral arm in a maverick

    drop spindel on a maverick

coil over suspension in a maverick

if anyone does and would be willing to send me pictures of there mavericks suspension so i can post them on the top part of that page (which is empty right now. if someone could do that it would be great!! i'll make sure to put your name on or near the picture so people know its your car.

stefan if you think this is worthy of a special topic feel free to move it if not don't worry about it.

hope this helps someone in the future.

Those were cool shots of your Mav. Where were they taken?

I did my coils about a year agao. I should cut more. I cut less then you did. I gotta do it again.

Who makes dropped spindles for a Mav?

Someone once said that Granada spindles will lower a non-Granada. I have them on my Ranchero, but I also cut 2 coils. Sits great.

Cutting too many coils without relocating the upper A-arm can severely damage the upper balljoints, as it puts them an incorrect angle. I wouldn't cut more than 1 coil...

    Cool.

I'll try to remember to get you a picture of a relocated upper contral arm unless someone else beats me to it.

    Drop Spindles

Ive never done this myself, but I have looked into it.

Fatman's Fabrication has drop spindels for the Mavericks, the only thing you need to do to your car is convert to disc brakes.

    http://www.fatmanfab.com/

lowers the car without altering the ride.

When you relocate the control arms, are you doing it like Shelby did to the Mustangs?

the photos were taken 3 weeks ago in fontucky.. :biglaugh: oopps i mean fontana speedway... (sorry thats a local joke for you non so-cal guys ) in the pooring rain! i don't know who was more stupid me or the photographer standing in the rain!

as far as springs... nah but remember your cars a six cyl so it will sit differant.

nah the granada ones are the same height as a maverick as well as a mustang. got a pair of both of them in my garage.
hum good point and theory but... actually if you look under the car when the car is sitting the angle hasn't changed much. but i'd say if anyone is worried about it i'd say don't do it. personally i'm not worried about it and i don't like my cars looking like a 4x :p . my white cars lower then that and its been like that for over 14 years and never had a problem with balljoints and trust me i inspect the suspension of my car all the time.. you know safety reasons.

maybe one day i'll change the control arm and buy new springs again :D maybe i'll also jot your consern about the ball joints on my page just incase someone has the same consern as youself.

besides the point of the page is to inform people who keep asking how much to cut. i keep having people e-mail me and asking how much i cut or what springs i used. not to meantion i'm sure you you seen the question how to.... asked too many times  i'm sure sick of answer it time and time again.
    i'll be waiting!
Glens right Bob those are the only guys i seen that have it.
yep.. infact look on the global west site

i hope! but yeah it will run low 7.60 all day i don't think asking for a 10th is asking for much... hum N20 you say? shoot if i stuck that stuff on it it would run low 7's all day! but i wanna see what this motor can do without thats stuff or porting the heads.

but i wanna take it out some time in may.. like i said i'm just picking up my helmet next wednesday and when i get some time to get it on my friends rack to adjust the cal tracks from hitting the sub frames then i should be ready to go.

the cars all yours when i blow the motor up and roll it over! :p

wheres your car now? body shop?
