Hello! I’m new to this forum, so sorry in advance if I do something wrong! I am looking to purchase a 72-74 Maverick Grabber (w/ 302 V8) for less than 7k. My goal is a semi-project / daily. I already have a daily, but I would like something fun for nice days, could be a beater, I don’t care. But my concern is I’m 6’3, and I’m wondering if I would even fit. I have the tools and money to modify it so I would fit, but it would be nice to already fit. Plus anyone have any issue with owning one, as it’s a 50 year old car?

I estimate a lot of attention will be need in many areas of a fifty year old car. All rubber hoses, brake inspection, parts replaced as needed, cooling system these are just few recommendation before even considering putting car on road. Be prepared for suprises old cars present to forefront.
Doesn't sound as if you are familiar with old cars, in a nutshell anything that can leak or go wrong will. Unless already serviced, the front suspension will be junk(worn out), motor & transmission will be leaking. Unless already converted to disc, brakes will be less than adequate even if components are in good shape. My Fairlane with only 43K had front suspension issues(rubber bushings deteriorated) and brakes were terrible. Rubber bushings were every bit as bad as my Cobra that had over 100K mi & Comet that had only 60K when I bought it. Both Comet and Fairlane have now been converted to disc brakes. Power steering rebuilt on Comet & installed on both Fairlane and Cobra.

Hello! Yes, I am familiar with older cars, how bushings, brakes, etc deteriorate. Just wondering if a small thing would cause a much bigger issue, for example, a bolt was too short from factory, and that can cause major issues if not addresed (not sure exactly how I should word what I mean) But my main concerns are: 1. If me, a 6'3 200lb guy would fit into once, and if I don't, are there any mods I can do to fit. 2. Is there anything I should avoid in buying?
The Maverick has plenty of headroom for tall people. Regarding leg room; I am 5'-10" and have the seat slid back as far as it will go (and that's perfect for me). I think the seat tracks could be modified in such a way as to allow the seat to be moved further back if necessary. It will be no different than any other 50 year-old car in that whatever has not been replaced will probably need to be replaced, and the maintainence is ongoing (hey, modern cars need maintainence too)...
I'm 6'6", 300 lbs. I moved the seats back 2-3 inches. The back seat is useless, but then it never was great. I put in big comfy seats from a Chrysler Cirrus and had to fab seat brackets anyway.
Buying a Maverick? How about a Comet? To me they look better. Anyway either one, disc brakes on the front are almost a must in this day and age. Newer cars can out brake you perhaps causing a accident. Check the cowl before purchasing. If it leaks, fixing it is a pain. Could be used as a bargaining tool. You can get a lot of money into these cars and probably will not get it back if you was ever to sell it.
