The post by fixmer was that he liked the "raised up look"......... I would not cut a coil off a 6cyl spring to lower car when you can buy new springs with the correct rate already cut for less than $100. New spring vs old spring with wrong rate and many miles.JMO

Was your 6-banger a 250? If so, the springs are the same as those in V-8 Mavericks. If they are from a 200, I wouldn't cut them, as they should already sit lower with the V-8 installed...

no mine had the 250 in it, and it just sits WAY to high for me i want to put 40 or 50 series tires and have it sit so that the fender is just 1/4th in above the top of the tire... i'm running 14" cregars btw

Here is a pic of the aftermarkets 550lb lowering springs next to stock V8 springs. While they are a LOT shorter on the bench, they lowered the car about an inch.

wow that looks like it'd lower it alot more than an inch...
how many coils should i cut out of mine? i've got the stock inline 6 250ci springs.... and i'd like the rim of the wheelwell about 2 inches above the top edge of the rim...

i guess ur right, cuz when it compresses it'll move down even further than that because the springs now weaker, is this going to make my car ride like total crap?

Putting a little more air in that tire should fix that problem.

Cutting 1 coil will not drop it 4 inches....and 4 inches is WAY too much. If you really want it that low, you need drop spindles. That thing will never align properly if you cut the springs enough for a 4-inch drop. Also, your tires will rub, unless they're real skinny and have the right back-spacing...

Sure, if you can afford it, I say go for it.

I cut one coil from old springs and it dropped the car a little more than I wanted it to. If I had it to do over, I'd go with new springs. You can get 'em for $60.00 a pair...
