afford? what do you mean.. isnt the shelby thing where you drill new holes for something in the steering, which lowers it too and improves something...and cutting the springs is free...so would drilling the holes...

"Steering"? No, and if you don't know, you shouldn't be doing it. You're risking making the car unsafe or undrivable.

The Upper control-arm relocation kit is not free. if you can afford it, then by all means get it. It allows for proper suspension geometry when using drop coil springs.

If you're on a tight budget, just cut 1 coil from your old springs. It won't lower the car any 4 inches, but 1-2 inches can be expected, which is noticable...

agreed! love it! (y) whats your bottom of the fender sit at? sorry i know its off topic but i wanna know so too bad!

agreed one coil will not drop it 4 inches. however i don't think 4 inches is too much. :16suspect :D

as you can see in the pic attached my car sits at almost 4 inches lower then stock.. maybe more depending on your car (just comparing my stock car to my lowered one)

yes that is a nice way to do it if you have the money… and you can get a bit more adjustment with them for road racing which is really nice. but…. Personally I believe you can still get it that low and not have a problem. TL mentioned in my last post about the ball joints… (speaking to orginial poster) http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=13869 yeah I’m sure anything can go wrong with anything you do, so if it’s a concern to you then don’t do it… but personally I have never had a problem with either of my cars. And as most of you know I have had my car like this for years.

as far as never aligning properly? untrue... my car is right on, so unless my friends who owns an alignment shop is out of his mind and teh guy who aligned it before him is a down right lying scum bag then oh well. but personally my have tires always wore evenly on that car... then again maybe becuase its so skinny! :D My other car which is not as low does wear a bit on the inside however that’s the way I wanted its aligned for cornering reasons. Then again what stock maverick out there never at one time or another wore out on either the out side or inside. :biglaugh:

I say unless your putting anything taller then a 24-1/2 inch tire no wider then 235’s it won’t rub, cutting one coil. With slight mods (ig: rolling fender lip) you can get a 24-1/2 incher in there up to 245 no problem with either as much as only a 3-1/2 backspace. been there done that stock to droped! 215, 225, 235, 245 14's to 17's to 70's to 60's etc

But FIXMER .. back to the orginal post i say like dmhines said
so with all the mumble jumble i say wrote i guess means nothing :p

i think if i see another post about tire size and coil cutting my gonna buy a honda!

I don't doubt anything that you've said. I still think that 4-inches is a lot though...
