Hey guys, I put my Mav in a big Mustang show this weekend in Pensacola Florida and had a great time. It's always a great show and I have attended it for about 15 years now...usually without a car but this year I brought my blue Grabber. I entered it in the Special Interest Class along with Tom Longerbeams 72 Comet GT and we both brought home Gold Awards. Tom has an extremely nice Comet and well deserves being on the cover of Autokrafters...yep, that's his red Comet at the bottom. Tom and his wife drove the Comet to Pensacola all the way from Cummins Ga. I hope he didn't have too much problem making it back home because it was starting to rain just as the show ended and Tom was having wiper problems. I supplied him with some parts he was needing before he left but it wasn't something he could fix until he got back home. There were some interesting Australian Falcons in the show also...all three of them rt hand drive. I just can't imagine driving a standard shift car shifting with my left hand. Just NOT natural!!!
I also got the opportunity to meet one of our members, Dave (ratio411). Dave's just another great Maverick guy teaching his son the ropes about buying parts for the Mav...what a guy!!! We probably would have spent more time together but I think Daves got too much money. He spent the day buying up all the good parts. Looks like he got some really good deals too. Hopefully Dave will have his Mav ready for the show next year. (I hope yer readin this Dave...gotta set yer goals now!!!)(y)
I also took a few pics of a nice 71 Grabber in the Pony Corrall for sale. You guys might have seen it on eBay recently. It's a pretty nice car but appears to be a little over priced. I heard he was asking about 13K at the show and it was still there when I left.
If you recognize the photo of the black 66 Fastback you'll probably remember it being in (I believe) Mustangs and Fast Fords a month or two ago. A young lady drives and road races this car. It is a piece of art...unbelievable workmanship. Check out the engine pic I'm posting with it.
Anyway, I thought I'd share a few of the photos I took during the show. I'll keep it low, don't think Stefan would appreciate it if I posted 100 pics on here.
I have about 10-11 pics I'll post so they will probably have to be in two or three posts. Hope you guys enjoy the pics.

Other than the painted bumpers, that orange one is really sharp. Whats was the asking price? I think its on Ebay now.

I never saw a price on the car but was told by someone else that it was either $13000 or $13500, not sure which. The front bumper is probably the only thing I would change about the car...that and the oil leak.

I had thought the front bumper may have been painted because it was 'glass...
    Nope, it was steel.
I guess the paint was cheaper than chrome.
It wasn't a bad car, but it was only on the high side of average IMO.
I knew the owner was going to shoot high pricewise, but that is really high.
I haven't bought a Mav in 15 years though... maybe I am wrong.
    Dave

Btw: I don't think my Mav will be ready next year.
I have big plans for it, and not so much money. 2005 I have spent several hundred dollars on the car... but this is the first money since 1997!
The roof is rotted out due to vinyl, but I have a straight donor roof, so that is going to happen soon. After that it is anyones guess as to when it will be done. The roof is a major milestone though... I feel like there is little I can do to the car until the roof is done. It is such an invasive repair that anything done before would likely need undone... other than basic parts hoarding for future use.

:tsk: Dave, Dave, Dave...a good body shop can have that roof on in a couple of days work. Just think about it like that...two short days. Then you won't have any more excuses so you REALLY DO have time to get it ready for next year.:) Yeah, so you might have to make a few sacrifices but it'll be worth it in the long run. I say GO FOR IT!!!:bananaman

The problem is finding a body shop that will do that kind of work. Around here, all they want to do is insurance work. If you find one, make sure they will work on it till done and not "at our conveyance"
