Hey everyone, have'nt been on here in a long long time. But dont worry, I never deleted you guys from my favorites;) I usually cruise the site during the summer when Im driving the mav.

    Anyway,

the thought of selling the mav has been running through my mind alot lately. As I'm in school and starting my own bussiness may 1st, and money is super tight. I just cant afford to have two project cars right now.

You guys are going to hate me for this but the last couple years I've really been putting my money into my Audi. Which is happily in the 13's right now. For what I need/want year round, the Audi has it. The mav has what I want too, but I cant drive it in snow.........

I've had the mav since I was 17 and built it up from an orange peice of crap with an I6 200 in it. It was my first.....my last......my everything....hehe.
But now that I'm 21 and in college, I just cant justify keeping a car that sits for 10 months out of the year.... I live in Upper Michigan where the snow is abundant, so driving the Audi year round is a much more practical choice. And with a turbo that hits 20psi under 3000rpm its a damn fun street car.

So here I am, asking you guys what I should do and what I should be looking to get out of the mav if I did sell it. This really hurts to even think about, but you know, there will be plenty of other projects coming around my way in the years to come. I just hate the fact that I might be getting rid of the one that started this whole thing for me. I know I'll regret it for the rest of my life, but what else can I do? I really am in a bind here. I would love to keep it because it brings such a smile to my face to drive, the looks and thumbs up I get from people is worth more to me than money. but right now what it really comes down to is practicality and my financial situation......

Here's the link to my gallery site of both my cars and all the fun stuff I've done to them: My Gallery

Or if you want the link straight to the mav, here it is

I was going to say, go ahead and sell it, there will be other cars ....... but after looking at those pictures and then reading your post again, I think you are right in saying you will regret it for the rest of your life. I'd give anything to get back some of the cars and trucks that I had in high school. When I went to my 25th class reunion, some of the guys DID have the cars they drove in high school. Cuda's, Mustangs, Camaros, 4x4 trucks. Not ones like they had, but the actual cars that they kept all those years. It was so cool.

So do what you gotta do. It's only money and you will make more tomorrow. And the banks are full of it if you need some. There will only be one 1st Maverick you did, no matter how many you build later on.

    just my :2cents:

    Hey,
I agree, I would hate to let it go. But sometimes.. things happen.. for instance, I am having to sell 14 acres (that I love and feel peace at) so we can buy the building our business is located in. So, I definately understand the delima. Also, you hate to see your first car, (investment, as well) just sit up without anyone enjoying it. So, if financially, you have to choose between the cars, you would want the one that you can drive year round..

I am sure there's alot of folks, including me, that would love to help you let go... take it off of your hands, give it a good home and lots of love, etc.

    Good luck in your quest.

    well you have two choices....

    1. Sell it and use the money the way you need to and get your business going

    2. Put it away in storage and keep it...its not costing you anything to put it into storage until you want it again.... and then you weill be happy that you didnt have to start over

its your choice.. life is like that... no matter what people tell you, you will always do what is right for you to do....

yes there will be other cars...... i sold the first car i had that i fixed up...it was a 1972 dodge charger SE..... it was awesome...just the engine was too slow...i fixed it up rebuilt it and to this day i wish i never sold it...but now i have my 71 maverick that is 10 times faster and lighter and i can do more with because my charger taught me how to fix cars...

    good luck

That is a beautiful car! When I saw the pictures, I was sooo impressed. I would feel torn also, if I were you. And I have to say, I kinda got misty eyed for ya...(I know you all are gonna say its a girl thing...lol) Whatever you choose to do, I sincerly hope that you have the best luck and success in the future. I have to say, it makes me feel good to see a 21 yr old with his priorties straight!

So park it away in a garage somewhere and forget about it. It wont cost you a dime. So it will deteriorate some, big deal, it will still be yours and when the time comes, you pull it out of storage, rebuild it, and say to yourself, " I'm sure glad I didn't sell it"!!!!! I wish I had a dollar for every time I heard someone say, I wish I would have kept my......

Do what you've gotta do, but seeing someone else cruising around in the car you put so much into will probably bother you. I'd bet you would regret selling it.

You know, I want to be the guy at the reunion who is still driving his high school Auto shop project. You guys have some good points. And I dont have to sell it to know that I would hate myself for the rest of my life, I already know that. Sure I could really use the cash right now, But I guess I'll just stick it out and see what happens.

Just the thought of handing those keys over to someone is gut wrenching....

If this were only about money I could sell it in a heartbeat, but my soul is in that car. That car stands for something to me.

Well wish me luck everyone, I'm going to wait this one out and see what comes my way. My Karma is good, so I'm not going to pee my pants over this situation....

thank you for all the replies[IMG]

I'll drop in from time to time. I still have this wicked vibration above 2000rpm (regardless of vehicle moving or not) and I cant figure out where it is coming from[IMG][IMG][IMG]
