How many here have the CompCams 268H in their 302, and what do you think of the performance of it?...

I don't. Sorry, but I've seen how that particular grind affects Chev Small and big blocks. it's got a bit of a lope to it, but plenty streetable. Nearly no lope to it in the big Chev.
    Sorry I don't know more.

I had that cam in my old 302. Seemed to me to be just about the perfect all round cam. More torque than stock...much more horsepower than stock, better fuel mileage than stock(even with steeper gears), had a slight lope to the idle...car ran a best of 13.77 with this cam(shifting at 5500rpm) ....changed to a Cam Dynamics 284 energizer and lost torque, lost fuel mileage, and the car could only run mid 14's(probably because of the stock heads)...but it sounded meaner. The 268 was a better all around cam fo what I had...hope that helps a little

I've got a few buds with the 268. As Grabber71 said, better than stock, all around. We got my cousin a 270H, same timings, just a bit bigger, and we enjoy it quite a bit. :)

270 has a pretty decent lope to it, but doesn't really sacrifice low end too much, 268 is just about a perfect cam for a stronger than stock street driven 302. It is pretty much a 100% improvement over stock.
Stock is 266 intake, .368 lift, 240 (or 248? I'm getting old) exhaust, .38 lift.

edit: memory engaged again, its 244 on the exhaust.

Thanks for all the replies, guys. As for the "non helpful" posts, I'm guilty of it too, so no problem here...

It's a good all around cam, and in the Comp line, probably the most aggresive choice you would want to make for a car stuck with a stock converter, manifolds, 3.00 gears, etc.

I don't know if the specs are the same, but I have the 268HR which is a roller cam. I didn't like it with the 3.0 gears and 2300 stall, but with the new 3.40 gears it feels alot better. It doesn't really start pulling until about 2400 rpm, so it felt mushy in town with the 3.0 gears.

Ok, I must have updated my profile when I wasn't looking at my cam sheet because it is a 266HR not 268HR... there is no such thing as a 268HR (well for Ford anyway). But everything I said about it is true. :D

I have heard good and bad about most cam companies.
Do you know the specs on the cam in question, TL?

I know that mine is a dual pattern grind with 280/290 degrees
duration. It is just a little bit too much duration for a C4
with no stall. My lift is .470/.474. It comes on strong
about 2500 and is screaming by 4000.

Thats what I'm running and power is good, and if you keep your foot out of it, the gas mileage is alright. Good daily driver with a dual plane or Torquer 289.

Could anyone who is running the 270H give me an idea what they are getting for gas mileage??? I was thinking of the 270H and rhoads or crane's variable lifters for a daily driver, any coments?

270H would not affect you alot. Very small difference to the 268H. 268H has better low end, but not a huge difference at all.

    Littleredtoy
    268H, 218 duration @ .050, 106 intake centerline, 114 exhaust, 110 LSA, .456 lift.

    270H, 224 duration, 106 intake centerline, 114 exhaust centerline, 110 LSA, .501 lift.

Both have the same duration on intake and exhaust lobes.
