I recently shipped two sets shock tower to fire wall supprots to pegasus to be powder coated. One set from a '76 and one set from a '77 mav. He tells me that they are like no other maverick shock tower to fire wall supprots he has seen. Usually, each support is a straight bar going direcly from the tower to the fire wall (as shown in the attached photo). However, in the sets that came off my cars, the drivers side support is "D" shaped. It starts on the tower, splits, and one bar goes more or less straight back and the other goes over the master cylinder. The two bars come back together before the support bolts to the fire wall. This discription my be slightly off b/c I haven't seen the supports on the car in a few months. Does anyone else have these "D" shaped support? We're wondering if it has to do with the mavs being later year cars or perhaps its a regional thing. I have only found pics on the web of the straight variety.
dan, if i remember right corbin johnson had a set like that on his car when i was at his house picking up the 73. i think these were on the cars with the boosters for power brakes but i could be wrong. i'm sure he can let you know.
I have a 76 and the 'D' style you are talking about is for the drivers side because of Power brakes. It clears the booster. If you'll notice in the above pic that this mav doesn't have a power brake booster.
Yep, I added the power brakes, and when the booster and brace arrived, I was very suprised at the shape of the brace. Works well though. -Corbin
Please post some picks of the powder coated parts when you get them back. I talked to him about it awhile ago but haven't decided what to get done. He sounded very professional and the pics on his web site of the candy colored stuff looks real awsome.
