Alittle background about the stallion. We have all of the original parts for it. All the interior parts are in good shape except for the chrome stripping on the panels is falling off. Me and my dad are doing all of the body work. Stripping the paint down to bare metal. We took out the 3 speed and put a 66 390 fairlane 4 speed toploader in it. It has the original 302 in it that is built up alittle.(cam, headers, 650 double pumper,....etc). Were putting the hood scoop on it, we have the spoilers on. Hopefully we can find the early 70s bumpers. Gonna get 4.10 gears. And thats about it.

yea my uncle bought the car along time ago down in north carolina. Then he came up here probably 20 years ago and my dad painted the car all black and my uncle went back down to North carolina. Then around like 1986 my dad bought the car off him drove it for like 2 years and it has sat in my garage ever since. Now that im 17 ive been working on it alot. Its pretty neat how i strip the paint and still see the original silver stripe behind the black. My dads did body work for 20 something years so he tells me what to do and i do the work. So hopefully the project will be done by the end of summer. But theres only so much a 17 year old can do. Some day when i get another maverick i plan on doing a full restoration on this car seeing how its pretty rare.

Did you swap the input shaft to the small block one before you installed that toploader? My toploader came from a 67 390 Fairlane so it kind of caught my attention, since thats what I had to do too. Good luck on the project!

No we didnt swap any of the input shafts. It bolted right up and we have driven it and it runs fine. Is it going to hurt anything if we didnt swap the shafts?
