More items I am looking for and a picture. Woo hoo? Well I again want to say thank you to y'all that have helped me out in locating parts. I have been giving some of you some business. Now, for what I want to know. What kind of after market (comfortable ones) bucket seats can I bolt into this car, 1971 comet? Where can I get four original hub caps? And what about the little comet signs on each side of the front fenders? Thanking you again in advance for your help. Btw, I am really trying to work out on how to attach pictures, be patient cause I am not that computer litterate. I have instructions but not to easy to follow. Hey, I did it? james comet
FYI .. you do know that your car is a COMET GT? Missing the hood scoop .. but I see the COMET GT grill ...
Actually I was not a hundred percent sure but I thought so. It does have the automatic floor shifter on the floor. The kid I bought it from ($500) had a pretty healthy 302 in it, which I still have. I will try and attach a couple more pictures of this "before" condition. The kid said that a wheelbarrel fell off a truck that he was following and destroyed the scoop and the windshield. I already have a new glass and I am going to order a fiberglass hood shortly. I found a place but I cannot fine the paper I wrote the number on. Do you have any suggestions? The drivers side fender is trashed by the accident but I already have one from a 71 maverick. Anyway thanks for the info. james comet
I just sold one of those grills on eBay for $500 so you got a good deal! If it is a GT it should also have Bucket Seats ...
Yea, it has buckets alright. As a side note I just bought the other day The Mustang Monthly Magazine, May 05 edition. There is an article in there about a guy from Belgium who is a Ford dealer. He created 14 Shelby Europa Mustangs. Anyway, there is a picture of a 1971 comet gt and it says in the box next to the picture, Shelby Europa Gt250. When Claude Dubois and Carroll Shelbvy put their heads together to consider future projects, the idea arose to use a 71 Mercury Comet with a 289 GT40 engine, a T10 Borg Warner gearbox, a Detroit Locker rearend etc (to much to type). Claude used the prototype as his demos car for one year and remembersh having a lot of fun chasing cars on the Autobahn. The project eventually got scrapped. I thought that was a rather interesting read. It also looks like the 71 comet was fashioned after the 70 mustang. I see alot of similiarties. Small bumpers for example. Oh, and while it's on my mind what is the price for a pretty decent paint job? Not necessarily show quality but good? I am also thinking of painting the car black with beige interior. james comet
