..anyone other than me reading the 'Quest for 10's' in Car Craft? It's a small bumpered Comet owned by a guy named Tom Habrzyk in CA. Stephen Moore may be able to give him a few pointers on getting it hooked up. Part II of the artice arrived in todays issue. Seth
No, I don't get Camaro Craft anymore, but the latest issue of PHR has an article on handling that features a Comet...
Yeah, it's a Comet alright. They aren't really pushing the idea that it is a Comet though. They are more interested in the engine buildup and suspension. Nice track pic of the blue Maverick. Got any more?
I knew that was yours Maverick Man as soon as I saw the picture. Could'nt miss that carbon fiber hood. Nice pic.
Well, it's a black & white picture and I only glanced at it. I haven't even read the article yet. I always take them to work and read them there...
yeah i saw it on the newstands today.. cars got really good MPH! too bad he can't hook it up. but actually i was talking about the PHR thing for the "are you sure its a comet" unfortunately that's the only shot i got i must have done that turn like 20 times but thats all i got from the guy that was shooting it. thanks! i just wish i had some more pictures of it in the rain like that. it is and isn't. it was at fontana speedway in the pooring rain right next to the drainage system!! it might as well had been a river! i was soaked not to meantion the car looked like hell after i got done driving it out there! i only spun the car out once which i thought was amazing since i can't drive! maverick comet same thing but don't worry there ain't nothing in there about the maverick.. it figures. and shame on you for reading car magazines at work!
Maverick Man I like the nice pic. In a month or two I will have a surprise pick for ya. You will sure like. Then comes what I need from you.
Jim M. came to Florida about this time last year and shot my car (also, inbetween rain storms). He sent the pics to PHR and they said no thanks. He then sent them to M&F and I guess they took them. A picture of my car showed up a couple months latter with an article, I believe, Steph wrote to the mag. Your lucky to get that one pic because I was told that if the mag accepts the pics you get nothing.
getting back to the car craft article, read it tonight. the guy changed from 3:89's to 4:11's to 4:57's. also from a 2200 to a 5600 tci convertor, from a c-4 to a 4 speed toploader, from slapper bars to ssm bars to slide-a-links. from hoosiers to m/t's. according to the parts list for SOME of the parts used for the suspension the cost was about $8262. all i can say is thank you to him for telling me what works, and what not to spend my money on.
