Does anyone know where I could find some new or used export braces for my 71 comet GT?

If you are talking about the factory shock tower to firewall braces...I probably have a set. Email me at: cselvey@netdirect.net

They go from the firewall to the shock towers. They are called export braces on mustangs I assumed they would be called the same on mavericks and comets.

Well you're close. They are called export braces if both sides are combined into one piece. They were put on cars that Ford "exported" to other countries with poor roads. Shelby used them to stiffen the front end of his Mustangs. They were not normally available on domestic Mustangs. Mavericks use the two piece configuration, though I've often thought about making my own "export" brace.

BTW, if your car doesn't have them it makes the front end very loose and the shock towers will begin to collapse.

I don't think the shock towers are going to colapse but they do cut down on the body twisting.
