Has anyone ever thought about or tried putting doors that open vertically on their car...I saw an article on the in a Mustang & Fast Ford mag...I thought it would look pretty cool on a Maverick...What do you guys think?

I would think it would be complicated to get enough bracing to support the door on a gull wing type set up. But then again I'm sure it could be done.

You can buy "Lambo" door kits to do just that. A lot of the ricers do it.

I'm sure you could probably put the vertical doors on your car with enough work. I saw two late 90's Mustangs with them recently and they look kinda cool but you would have to do a lot more than just the doors to get the right effect. The doors by themselves would look out of place. These cars have many many mods to them to get that European effect. I'm sure it's just a thought but in my opinion it's not very feasible unless you're ready to spend a few grand on the car. Don't mean to burst your bubble...just my :2cents:

I knew what you was meaning :yup:

I think it would be different.
Sure would take a lot of modification.....not sure I would want it on my car. But it would definitely be a engineering feat and different(y)

These doors are pretty heavy. Would definately take some $$$.

the show pimp my ride do it all the time and i actually thought of doing it to my car.... i think it would be cool and a unique setup for sure...

i know they dont make it for a maverick so you would need to buy a kit for mustang and mod it... that would take a lot of know how and creative thinking i bet.... and if it didnt come out right. well you get the picture

yeah I watched it yesterday and they did it to a Honda.....removed door hinges and bolted it in. It actually moves the door out about 1 inch then gull wings up. Looked pretty cool and from what I could tell it seems that it could be fabbed on a maverick pretty easy.....to bad I forgot who they said made the kit.

One thing late model cars have that 70's cars don't are doors that wrap over the top of the car, ( Aircraft Style Doors) the Ford Tempo/ Merc Topaz was the first to have those in 1984, thats' one reason these kind of doors work on post '84 cars, you would have to find a way for the door to " come outward then up to clear the roof. I think it is an interesting Idea. you can really piss off:mad: those bastards that park over 2 parking spots, Squeeze in, and get out no problem..:biglaugh:

BY the way interesting show, but C'mon head rests with Monitors, facing backwards in a car with no backseat?? ( Escort with a BMW Nose) Nice cars but they get just stupid with all the monitors , coffe makers, etc.. guess that's the point though.. pimped out..

yeah I agree. I do not like some of the "novel" things they do to the cars.
