I figured out why I wasnt getting any voltage to the starter solenoid.Turns out there was a bad spot in the wire heading back to the solenoid so I just ran a new wire to it.:bananaman

I'm looking for ideas now. I did the efi swap and need 3 key and start hots to run to the efi harness. Can you basically make your own circuits like that or do I need to tap off of the original harness. I've already found a few but dont want to chance going off the wires to the instument cluster or N/S switch wires.

For the start function that solenoid wire is probably the best wire to use. For run function I would use a relay energized by the ignition 12V wire, supply the relay contacts with 12V from the battery.

Thanks, now how about a circuit that is hot when in run and start?

You could use another relay and those same two wires (starter solenoid and ignition) to energize the coil but you would have to put a diode on each wire. Connect the diodes so they are forward biased, in other words, the striped end on each diode would connect to the relay coil + terminal and the wires would each connect to one of the diodes other ends.

Or, if you think about it, the ignition coil + terminal has voltage on it whenever you turn the key to start or run. It just may change slightly in run if you have the factory resistor wire or a balast resistor installed.
