What would be the best way to remove a 100% rust-free rear 1/4 panel from a parts car without ruining it and keep it straight for reinstallation?

if it's already at your house or your near some electric, plasma cutting would be the way to go.sawzall will work, also, but would bow the cut a little.just cut more than you need.

die grinder and patience. It'll be just as it was on the car, just less of it. :)

There is no easy way but I would get more than just the quarter. Get the trunk drop, & outer wheel well too. These usually are rusted out too. I would cut through the tail light opening and down accross the trunk floor about 2" before it drops off. Then up the inner wheel well. Cut the entire door post out along with it. Through the back window shelf, and across the roof from in front of the rear window to about 6" into the back window. You could use a tourch for this since you would be far enough in to prevent any panel warping. A plasma cutter would definately be the best tool. ONce the whole cornor of the car is off, use a 4" grinder to remove the parts you dont want.

not to hijack your thread dan, but 1970mav with you being so close to ron, you might want to talk to him.... his name on here is daydreamer and he is located in oshawa...... he may know where you can get something local......I know where there are a few around here...... that may work (kitchener, waterloo area)

im at the point where i would take almost anything as nothing else will fit and i can get it rebuilt as you all know the rust is a great problem even tho this car as always been a race car and been stored for ALOT of years...orignally new quaters were hung on this car with the idea of back halfing and tubbing the car but now we're goin to rebuild it so we can race it in ihra crate motor class....if any ideas i would greatly apreciate them

I have a friend that I could talk to, or if you want to get together I could take you to a local yard that has two 4 door comets that I believe has good wheel wells....... let me know.....
