The mav is gone but i'm still here!
does anybody know the bolt pattern on a 5 lug 75 mav i tried to messure it but i want to be acurate?:hmmm:

and also if i can take an ac from a newer car like a taurus or crownvictoria doesnt it have to be a v-belt and not a serpentine?:hmmm:

one last thing if i can get a think its called a monte carlo bar thing from another car?does it improve stability?:hmmm:

ok last thing i havent taken the car out but i put in a speedometer from a 71 mav. in it and at idleling it doesnt moved and when i rev it up it doesn't either. it it suposed to be like that, does it move when you put it into gear?:hmmm:

    Bolt pattern is 4.5"

For a Monte Carlo bar, nobody that I know of makes a stock unit, you can fabricate one easy enough. There are some posts and pictures of custom made bars that I've seen here. Do a little searching and you should find them. It will help with shock tower flexing which changes wheel alignment under extreme cornering (IE - road racing)

Speedometer only move when the car is moving - your thinking of a tach maybe?

I pass on the A/C question

hey thanks for the info i was actualy thinking of getting a tach from summit.
and do you know that number that they put in catalogs on the bolt patterns?
ex: 5x4.5 , is the # before it the number of lug nuts?

Bolt pattern is 4.5 inches. When looking at wheels look for 5 x 4.5 pattern.

You could convert your setup to serpentine. It's been done; do a search. Probably, the part of a later model AC system you will be able to use, is the compressor only. Either find a Mac/Comet with AC as a donor or go with an aftermarket setup (the easiest).

Monte Carlo bar reduces body flex which in turn helps stability.

Now, your last question. I can't believe you are attempting to do all these upgrades to a Maverick, that require a good bit of knowledge, and don't know this one. Think about it. It's speedometer or a speed meter. It measures the speed of the car. How much speed should it read with the car sitting still? If you want a meter to move the needle when you reve the engine, get a tachometer. It measures the revolutions per minute of the engine, the speed of the engine, if you will.

This has been discussed several times if you search ... any Mav 72 or older that came with a 6-cylinder was 4-lug ... 73 and up were all 5-lug ...

I certainly give him (or anyone else) credit for trying to fix up one of these
cars (I started driving my Maverick when I was 16 also, which was 21 years ago), but ya gotta know some basics first, like how to change oil, what a speedometer is and what it does, the difference between disc brakes and drum brakes, etc. Learn the basics before trying to rebuild a car. Not trying to insult anyone. You can even do a topic search here before asking a question, as many topics have been covered here in previous threads. Until you can take an auto shop class, read Read READ. Read all you can, and you'll learn much. Then, when you don't understand something that you read about, ask the questions...
