I want to put a 351W in my Maverick. I'm going to build this engine from the bare block up, piece by piece. Will all my 302 stuff fit like the EGR, P/S,A/C. Do I need to have adapters for these or buy the correct factory parts?

    Thanks,
    Richard

there is no correct factory parts fort a 351w in a mav ..the intake and Distributor and oil pan will NOT!! fit the 351w the rest of the parts will
if your going to use headers i would do away with the power steering makes life a lot better but with reg cast folds its fine ...i rec when you put the valve covers on use a good gasket ... and RTV it to the cover only let it dry and put some oil on the head side this way you can get the covers off to change the plugs at a later time it gives you so much more room to work without the shocktowers cut :2cents: .......only works a few times the you will need to change the gasket  :2cents: :2cents:

the hood will work as long as you dont get a tall after market intake you could go on ebay search for small block ford 351w theres lots of parts

i had a 351w with a 1" spacer and an edelbrock performer intake. no problems with the hood clearance.:)

A stock oil pan works fine as long as it's the older front sump design.

Off the top of my head I can't think of the part number but you can buy 1 piece rubber gaskets with a steel shim that are reusable many times.......

    Here's the deal on this....

I need a 351w intake that has a place for EGR since my car is a '76. I surmise I need a distributor for a 351w. Carlitos says, "That's cool." Any sugestions on a good aftermarket distributor. I was thinking Pertronix. My brother says he'll give me the 351w out of his F-150. Fuel injected. Late '80's. That may be a bit over my head. I wouldn't know how to get that past the smog guys. Late-model engines into classic cars are done frequently but California can be fickle. Where do I get a front sump pan? Look around?

    Thanks for the help...

Got a Jeg's catalog and it has a 7 quart front sump and an EGR manifold in there and anything else I could possibly want.Maybe I being too picky, but what is the weight diference between a 302 and a 351w with aluminum heads, manifold, water pump, and headers? I'm sure someone here would know. Thanks in advance.

Well if you are going with aluminum heads and i assume you are going with the aluminum intake also? the weight difference between a stock 302 and your 351 is going to be very minimal as the only real difference between the two stock is the width and height of the deck itself which isnt all that much weight wise to begin with. This is the whole reason alot of guys like to do the swap. gaining 49 cubic inches and not really adding much more weight.

one thing to keep in mind, the mains on the 351 are huge... not likely to break, but more frictional losses... much heavier crank.
