Well, yesterday I won the bid for a ’76 Maverick. It doesn’t look like much right now, but hopefully this will turn out to be the car that I can use to re-create my black & silver Stallion. I’m nervous and excited both at the same time, buying something “sight unseen” makes me uneasy, but at least I don’t have too much money tied up in it. I was hoping to find a car with a black interior, but lots of you guys told me that it wasn’t too bad doing a “color swap”, so I took the plunge. This will be a “several years” project, so I’m not expecting to see results anytime soon, as funds for this project will be difficult to come by. However, I’m just excited to know that I have a cool piece of metal sitting in my pole barn, just waiting to “come alive” again, and hopefully returning with a lot more attitude as a Stallion upgrade! My hopes are to arrange pick-up of the car around the same time as the 12th Annual Round-Up in Kentucky. This car is located in NC, so it wouldn’t be that far out of the way, and I would absolutely love to attend the Round-Up and meet a lot of you folks. I’m trying to find a trailer I can borrow to keep my costs down, wish me luck! Anyway, as much as I feel it’s a privilege being a member of the Maverick/Comet Club, being surrounded by all you fine people and sharing a passion, it’s even a cooler feeling now that I actually once again “own” a Maverick (even if it currently has a mustard colored interior, lol). Hope to see everyone at the end of July in Kentucky! Link to my eBay purchase: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6057&item=4558120692&rd=1
