Ever wonder which length wire should go to what cylinder? Here is MSD's chart ... Also a good reference for customizing Universal Fit wire sets ... http://www.msdignition.com/wire_sets.htm
I'm thinking about putting Accel 300+ Racing wires on the Grabber .... Black with Red spark plug connectors just like factory ... Dude on eBay has universal sets for 1/2 of what Summit and Jegs gets for them .... A Boss 302 message board recommends them for both performance and appearance ... He's all out of the 302 Custom fits so universal is the only option for $40 ....
nice! I like this better than laying the wires out on the driveway and guessing. It took me much longer than i expected to get the wires to look nice. All the wire swithing could have been avoided with this info. Thanks!
Sweet ... just got the custom fitted set of these wires for $15 .... guy listed them as MOPAR wires but didn't list the complete application which included 68-73 Ford 302 ... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...d=1,1&item=7997746944&sspagename=STRK:MEWN:IT
Every set of custom premade wires I ever bought always looked like crap anyway. Only way to make it look really neat is to cut them to length yourself, after your timming is set.
I always wondered if the spark plug wires should be the same length. I know it is minute, but the current still has to flow differant distance to the plugs that are father away for the distributor. In all out perfection shouldn't the distace be the same? Timing would be slightly retarted at the cylinders at the other end of the engine. I know in my fuel injected diesel truck the injector line are all made the same length so the fuel gets to the injectors at the same time. (relitive to piston location). If the wires were kept the same lenght it would take the same amount of time to get to each plug. OR maybe I'm just thinking too much.
Your thinking too much. The difference could probably only be seen with a high dollar ocilliscope set at the shortest time setting. Well below micro seconds probably.
I'm pretty sure electricity flows just slightly slower than the speed of light ... shouldn't be an issue going either 20 inches for 30 inches ...
I usually ground the #4 plug wire to my shifter. Makes the cam sound more choppy and urges me to shift quicker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
