Ha! Now that might be a stretch to make it this year, but I'm definetly planning on being there next year.

Dan, 'glad the news cheered you up. I know a lot of you (long-timers) were wondering if I was ever going to get it to run - or even if I really owned a Maverick!

Thanks, Stefan! I searched until I found my first post, 01/09/2002! And what was it about? You guessed it, I was requesting information on HEADERS! Ha Ha!

There's other stuff in the thread also that I found amusing. Knowing hardly anything about these cars at the time, I believed a neighbor of mine when he told me I had a Mustang II front end. :biglaugh:

Ken Merring (aka BlueGrass now), RickyRacer, and 74Merc replied to my first post, which reads,

"I recently purchased a 1970 Maverick. It is currently has no motor, but it does have a C4 tranny and has the V8 motor supports (I was told 'someone' put a 289 in it long ago).

I have an AOD that has been upgraded to suport 700 h.p. 1st through 3rd gear with a manually controlled electronic overdrive (nice for highway). I have used this in a '90 Convertible (heaviest of all stangs) and have been VERY pleased with it while running 7.2 in the 1/8 mile (1.5 60'). That was with Windsor Jr. Heads, Small Cobra intake and 19# injectors

The engine I am putting in it is a 347 C.I. (bored and stroked 5.0). With a 200 shot of nitrous, I intend to put out around 600 h.p. (as I wrote this I remembered again that the Maverick weighs 2500 lbs. - can't wait)

I've looked at Jegs and Summit for headers that will fit the swap, however I am unclear on which type to get. I look for all the 302 styles but I see many that say "NOT FOR C6 Automatic" or "C4 ONLY", etc.

I wonder, does this apply to the 1990 AOD as well?

If anyone has done this swap, or knows of someone who has, I'd appreciate the help (see my up-coming EFI post - I want to stay with EFI using a F.A.S.T. ECU ("formerly SpeedPro" and "FelPro" also). (plan at the time - a F.A.S.T. distributor wanted to put one on my car for $zip)

Great board, Guys. I look forward to stopping by often. I had no idea it'd be this many times!

I loved going back through the archives and seeing where other 'old-timers' chimed in to help this green horn out way gack then - and thank goodness, you're still doing it today!
