Well, my local automatic car wash tore my 7 foot AM antenna clean off the other day, I figured it would happen eventually. I have lots of stock antennas laying around but I wanted something a little more subtle. I went to best buy and picked up a generic am/fm power antenna kit and took it home. I'm working on a tutorial for it currently but here's the finished product. (on a spare fender, don't mind the paint)

7 foot? Did you have clearance lights on top for the low flying aircraft?

Mavaholic: I've heard them all, I kept the destroyed antenna for jousting matches.
ronr11: All said and done, about $27.00.
    dmhines: we shall see.

I love it! Much better than the old flag pole. I have been thinking about doing the same thing. So that is on a loose fender, do you know about the clearance on a mounted fender? Will it fit? Something else I have been thinking about is deleting the antena all together, filling the hole and using one of thoes hidden internal antenas. Does anyone have any experience with them?

I just zip tied mine up under the dash. Radio stil works ok. I did a 67 Mustang and mounted it horizontally under the fender. It worked ok too.

I went for a different look and mounted a power antenna in the rear passenger quarter. Not the best pic, but it is what I could find at the moment:

Dan: I checked my clearance tolerances and I should have plenty of room, I will be fitting it on the car soon.
