I need a hood to fit a 1971 maverick...any color, no rust plz!! Reply with offers/ p.s. any info would be great!! Thx Austin
My advice would be to hit some salvage yards, they usually won't charge you more than $50 - $75 bucks for a standard mav hood, you would pay that in shipping from any online order.
Like Rudy said, try to find one close if you can. That looks like a nice Mav. Anything else you can tell us about it. How's the interior? Are those bucket seats I see through the windshield? -Corbin
. I have a hood I'd be willing to sell. It's a standard hood in good shape with no rust. There is a small indentation on the corner of the "bubble" in the middle of the hood. I can even include the hinges and latch. Let me know how much you'd pay for the package. Anyone know how much these go for on ebay? Oh, and I live in california, so I'm not sure how we'd ship it.
to corbin Hey this car runs a V6 with beautiful interior, yes those are bucket seats. its a auto 3 spd with no engine mods i know of. and most of the salvage yards around here are for scrap and junk anyways, no car parts.
I like them wheels. Decent 4 lug wheels are hard to find. Car looks great. What part of WV do you live?
Parkersburg....pretty dull place, couple of good street race spots though! Also those wheels are Carroll Shelby off of a Shelby Mustang
Your car looks great. Thanks for the info, it sounds like a really nice car. mavman427: I noticed that you are going to Cal Poly, San Louis Obispo. How do you like it there? I am considering going there after I graduate next year. I am thinking of becoming an Architect or maybe an Engineer. I also have the option of maybe doing a double major and being an Architectual Engineer. What year are you? It's nice you have time to work on your Mav. Where ever I go, the Mav will be staying at home. -Corbin
. Yeah I go to Cal Poly. It's a great school in a beautiful location. It's pretty much a paradise out here. Tons of sunny days and beautiful girls. School is top-notch for engineering. My major is officially environmental engineering, but I'm in the process of switching into mechanical engineering. Unfortunately, my Mav is back home, in the Bay Area. I really don't have time or money to do much with it, so what I end up doing is buying a few random parts on ebay for it and then going home to tinker with it from time to time. The opportunity came up to buy a grabber hood for $200 yesterday so I jumped on it. I hardly ever make such a large purchase for my Mav (as I only paid 250 for the whole car) but I just couldn't pass up a deal like that. I've searched junkyards for months and have found nary a grabber hood. I found out about this hood on www.recycler.com. It seems parts are much cheaper than they are on ebay. And I expected if I did find a hood it would be completely rusted out and wrecked or the guy would be asking 400 bucks for it. Either way, those grabber hoods are very hard to come by out here in california and I thought it was worth what the guy was asking. If push came to shove, I could sell it on ebay for double what I paid for it. But of course that won't happen, it's going on my mav .
Wow, it's amazing that home for you is also in the Bay Area like me! I live about an hour north of San Francisco. I am pretty much set on going to Cal Poly, so I am glad to hear about it first hand from someone. Talk to you later! -Corbin
Shelby Wheels Hi Austin, I thought I'd help you out here a little bit. You mentioned that the wheels you are running are from a Shelby Mustang. Actually Shelby never made a 4 lug wheel on any of his Shelby Mustangs as all Shelbys were V8 cars. The 4 lug wheels you have are strictly 6 cylinder wheels. However, I'm pretty certain that the wheels you have probably are Shelby made wheels. The explanation here is that Carroll Shelby owns or owned a mag wheel company. There are a lot of wheels floating around out there with the CS logo on them. Several years ago when I came across my first set, I too thought I had a valuable set of Shelby Mustang wheels only to find out otherwise. Anyway, you really do have a very nice looking Maverick and the wheels look great on there. Good luck with the car. Ray
