OK... Got a Maverick 200 I6 w/ three on the tree. Problem: Wife doesn't want manual trans. 30000 original miles on the motor so looking to use the 200 as the base for this resto. How much work is involved in converting the manual to a auto...? Kinda wondering how much work i'm in for here... Thanks in advance for the replies! Jason.....
it would be easier to get the auto steering column, brake pedal assembly and linkage from a donor car. I'm not sure if the 200 and 250 linkage would be the same. These parts are readily available in many junkyards and the cost should be very reasonable. When switching columns the gear selector indicator will be on the new column so it would look "factory". Some of the guys on this board may have these parts sitting around and would likely be willing to virtually donate them! These are not highly "prized" maverick parts.
EFI, Thanks for the info! Now, how about hooking up a auto trans to the 200...? Could I use a c4? I plan on using a floor shifter so the column is not an issue at this time. (or is it?) Thanks again, Any other info I should be aware of...? Jason.....
Using a C4 will be no problem but you will need to find a bell housing. 200's have their own specific bell housing pattern. Should be a fairly easy part to find in any junkyard.
