I was wondering if anyone has ever suggested the idea of having two regional Round-ups? One for the East and Central states and another for the Mountain and Western states.

Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to go to Kentucky next year, but I know there are a lot of others in Colorado, Arizona, California, Washington and the other western states that simply can't make the Round-up for one reason or another...mainly distance and $$$.

Maybe the western one could be held in Las Vegas! :drink: Just a thought.

All it takes is somebody to host one out there in the West and it can happen. The current Round-Up started 12 years ago because somebody stepped up and made it happen.

Not saying I can speak for the MCCI or anything but I think the simple logic would be budget. A good portion of the budget goes to the roundup and there is not much left after that and the news letter. Although you might want to join the MCCI if you have not already and contact them about your suggestion. Maybe not a "national" round up but a roundup nevertheless, maybe call it a regional roundup. :hmmm: or instead of a mini meet call it a Major Meet:rofl2:

Craig you poseted while I was typing:D

Actually......no MCCI funds go to pay for the Round-Up. It is all paid for by members who come to a Round-Up. It is paid for by entry fees to get in the show and display...and it is paid for by Round-Up T-shirt sales.

1badmav, Its Not The Amount Of Cars You Need Its The Activities You Plan, The Hotel You Secure For The Event And Any Thing Else Like Trophies Or Door Prizes, You Can Really Offset Prices With Donations From Anybody Willing To Give Something Away, In Return Give Them Free Advertising At Your Event And Even Invite The People That Gave You Things For Door Prizes, Like Craig Said No Money From The Club Went To Fund The Event, Everybody Pays As They Go, You Really Need To Shop Around For Deals From Hotels, Resturants And Activities Like Go Carting Or Putt Putt Or Something To Keep People Busy And Not Get Board, As Far As A Successful Roundup Goes, Its The People, You Can Not "make" A Successful Roundup But You Can Host One And Make It Memorable For All That Attend. You Should Come To One And See All That's Involved Then Make Up Your Mind And Do It!! Best Of Luck.

Well, even though I still need to join the MCCI  (which I'll do promptly), I wouldn't be opposed to being on the events committee if no single person wants to handle the whole thing. I'm sure with the advice from the senior members we westerners could pull off a mega-meet or something.

After seeing and hearing about how much fun you guys had this year I just started wondering if something like this would be possible.

If you think it was a hokey pokey lthis year.......you should have been at the round-Up in years past. Just look at the pictures. Took over an hour to line up that one shot from last year.

As far as the expenses involved in my one and only Roundup; I thought it was quite affordable. My biggest expense was having to rent a truck from Wed.-Mon.

The event itself, hotel arrangements etc. were quite affordable in my opinion. $65/night buys a nights stay in a flea bag anywhere around my area for most areas. I thought it was a very nice hotel and a great town. Very clean and we loved having the live country band walking distance from the event.

Craig, for those of us who have our own businesses of sorts, could the MCCI accept sponsorhip dollars in exchange for some sort of ad recognition? It may help the club and we can write it off on taxes in some cases. E-mail me to discuss.

Sounds like a great idea to me. Heck, Texas would even be a great place. You could draw a lot of Southerners and Westerners. Heck, if you had it in Texas, DAB could bring all eleven of his cars and you wouldn't even NEED anybody else. I'd certainly like to see something in the South or the SouthWest. But regardless, I'll drive 13 hours to go back to that Kentucky meet anytime, thanks to John Ford's tremendous job. (y)

I would think that if you got an idea of how many people would be interested in attending another "Roundup"...then figured on how far they would be interested in travelling....you might have a ballpark as to where you could locate it....just a thought. It might be an idea if a few "state reps" got together to plan one out. I'd be willing to travel maybe 1000-1500miles(maybe more if it became a reality) if I had enough time to plan! But I am very interested!

I was looking at a map and both Boise and Salt Lake City are within about 600 miles (as the crow flies) of most major cities like L.A., Phoenix, Seattle/Vancouver, etc. Not sure what either city has to offer...haven't been to either in some time.

I agree, the state reps could head this up if they like the idea.

    Yeah!!!

Lots of space out here though. I'd have to drive a long way no matter where it was, but east of the MS is just too far. Vegas would actually be fairly close, CO is always nice too but pretty far if you're in SD or Washington. Willow Springs Raceway, north of LA, with time on the big track, the small track, and the dragstrip, Heaven, but that would take some serious organizing. Hotels are cheap though. Because it's in the middle of nowhere!!!
