This has to be a sickness. I just purchased for $300, a 74 Comet GT 250 cu in, C-4. Still has the factory Slotted Mags & Mercury center caps. Blue with black accents. Vinyl top has been removed. Body is straight, very little rust, interior needs a little TLC. Guy said it needed points & battery recharged (has new Battery). He swore that it started a year ago & was moved to where it sits now. Got in turned key, no idiot lites came on. Turn key to start, nothing (not even a click). Took a screw driver to the starter solenoid & it turned over. Seemed to want to start, but no go. I'm not that good with electrical. Seems to me that something is not connected, maybe the yellow box under the dash, fuses. I'll have to check it out. I did check all the fusable links, they are good to go. Any ideas out there, as to where, to start looking? I need help....I'll post pics as soon as I take some. Hopefully tomorrow...

I'm having a similar issue. One thing I did do to rule out the distributor and coil was run a 12-14 gauge wire from the + battery terminal to the + coil post. If it fires up then the coil and distributor are probably good.

If it has points, clean the hell out of them and regap. Will probably start right up after you run a jumper as Mike sugested. Since nothing is happening with the switch, maybe the rod came off and your not really moving the switch.

I'd clean the connections on the starter solonoid also. I had one of the little wires loose connection once on my F100 and acted the same way.

    Nice.

Good score. To make you feel even better there's a 73 comet gt shell going on ebay right now for $455 with rust and other stuff missing besides the motor and tran.
I just got a good score too, I just picked up a nice small rear bumber with the guards at junkyard for $45. Must have walked right past it 10 times before I noticed it.

Your right it is a sickness. I thought I was bad. Good job Coop. Go ahead and give it a complete tuneup and check to see if that is a good battery. If you can start it from the solenoid than it could be a battery. Good luck. If you need any help call me.

Such a deal. I have zero 6 cyl. GT's in the registry
Send me the info and I will add it.
For those that have asked, I am attempting to prepare
a form to fill out with the necessary info.

    For now do this:

    1)Name of owner

2)City and State (add the address if you like)

3)Contact e-mail and phone number are optional

    4)I need the VIN number-complete

5)The info from the blue tag inside the drivers door jamb

    6) J-peg format pictures

The only things I would add to what Seth has listed is:

    7) If you have any of the original paperwork, like a build sheet or bill of sale....send in copies of that as well.

    8) If your Comet GT has a body buck tag on the radiator support...a copy of that as well
