I like the idea of being the only car group in the place. Any of us can go to a Good Guys show or Ford Fun Show (I'm planning to go to both this year), but then we're mixed in with a bunch of other cars. Mavericks would stand out and get more attention, if we are not competing with Mustangs, Model A's, or 1932 chopped hot rods.

Where are you getting your info? Dodge ownership of Goodguys? I work for them and have never heard that one. A few years ago Gary bought Moon equipments Chevy wagon and we heard that Moon bought Goodguys back then

Goodguys puts on 24 events this year all over the USA. They also give away Fords and Chevy's. Dodge is a SPONSOR and has been for years. Timberland, PPG, Havoline Oil, Grundy Insuance and Boyd Coddington are also major sponsors. All events this year were Havoline summer series shows or races.

Gary started Goodguys with Import drags (VW) and muscle car drags. 19 years ago after Gary left NSRA in 1986 he moved into the Street Rod events.

Gary is retired from full time running of the organization and Marc is the head honcho.

If it isn't American built or powered it can't get into the Goodguys Show named "ALL AMERICAN Get-Together" in March. The show last weekend was the same. Imports with American power were allowed, but had to be 1954 or older. Imports are allowed at the drags, but no electronics such as Fuel Injection, delay boxes, etc are allowed and the vehicle must be pre-73 production or bodied.

Marc separated the import drags from Goodguys a few years back (5 or so) and ran under the name "GOODTIMES" not "GOODGUYS".

Other then the 3 "Get-Together" events at Pleasanton the year of vehicle is limited to 1954 and newer or 1972 and newer.

Goodguys moved to Pleasanton last year. Goodguys is the largest and fastest growing Vintage Racing and Rodding Association in the country.

I heard a rumor that Dodge had purchased them or interest in the Good Guys. But I guess I am like some people that hear rumors and believe them. Oh well, never said I knew it all. If I did I sure wouldn't be working for a living :D . But I have seen a few imports at the shows these past few years that were powered by rice motors. There was a Integra or Accord there that was not powered by a Ford, Chevy or Mopar that I couldn't understand why it was there. I know they are made in Detroit now, but to me they're still from the Rising Sun not the RED, WHITE & BLUE. Sorry if I gave wrong information on the ownership part.

Fallon, Reno area. C'mon, that place just NEEDS a group of Maverick's running down the track to that song that was playing while he ran that Cowasockie(he, he.)down the road against the jet. I talked to them again, board meeting tonight, going to give their rock bottom price for just us. BUT, a test and tune for them is only like 50 guys, and they would set one up on any date we pick to distribute the cost. They often have like 20 minutes at a time during a test and tune with no one running. Reno, Highway 50 to the Danger Zone! I'd be willing to bring the Yammahammer and have a race against that Cowasockie. Be a shame to go up there without a bike anyway. Show you a GREAT road out of Tahoe. The Need For Curvy Speed with no cops, because there's no cars.

No problem on the ownership stuff. Hey American made is still American made no matter who's name is on it. GM, Ford, MOPAR all sell cars that are made here or overseas that have their badge on them , but are designed, powered or even built by a foriegn company in the USA, Canada or Mexico.

Jag and Volvo are Ford owned and some of their parts or even some complete cars are sold as Fords. Trucks with Ford lables are even built from parts made in Mexico or even built there.

GM owns/sells Suzuki, Subaru, Saab, Daewoo and Isuzu products with GM or Bowtie badges. Isuzu and Suzuki's and Subaru have factories here as well.

Mopar sell Mercedes products as Chryslers. MB owns Chrysler and has a piece of Mitzubishi.

It's mixed up crazy world and ya need a score card to tell who makes what and where.

    Why?

There's a good reason for that. Same reason Phoenix is cheap in the summer.

It doesn't get even close to the high temps here in Sacramento that it does in Arizona. I have heard of Tempe hitting 125 in the shade and cooling down to mid to upper 90's at night, if thats cooling down at all.:bouncy: At least in Sacramento we get a nice breeze at night to cool things down. But I still like the idea of Reno for the meet.(y)

Well, we've got two days left on the poll and Reno has a decided lead. Guess I need to brush up on my Blackjack. :)

Rick, sorry I didnt get in touch with you this weekend. Labor day plus my in-laws live in New Orleans, so my wife has been on the phone a lot. I'm off Friday and plan to call then.

    Well.....

I hate Phoenix, but i have to say I don't remember it ever getting to 125(go ahead, look up the records). Maybe on the hood of a black 70 mav just after it pulled into the shade. But hey, I admit it, I don't really want to go to Sac., closer to most of S. CA, but otherwise just boring, In My Biased Opinion, IMBO, lol. Let's just do it, wherever.
Had to go look it up. Altitude in Reno, about 4000 feet, next to the high Sierras.
Altitude in Sacramento, 100 to 300 feet, in the central Ca. flatlands.
Altitude in Phoenix, about 1700 if memory serves, in hells waiting room.

    Curiosity cooked the cat.

I got curious. Record for Sac., 115. Record for Phoenix, 122. Record for the nation.......CALIFORNIA 134(Death Valley, right next to Sac. I believe). Record for AZ, 128 (Lake Havasu, which is actually way north of Phoenix, close to Sac. I believe). Oops, forgot the record for Reno. Be right back.
Record for Reno, 105, but there were a lot of people from Sac. there that day I believe.

Sacramento is no where near Death Valley. Death Valley is in So-Cal near Palm Springs. Sacramento is in Nor-Cal and is about 90 miles east of San Francisco last time I checked. The elevation of Sacramento, CA is only 23ft above sea level too.

    Really?

    Darn, they're on to me.
There were lots of altitudes listed for Sac. burbs, up to about 300 feet. i.e., not much different from sea level.
Death valley may be farther away from Sac than I initially alluded( a completely honest mistake I assure you ). But the San Juaquin air current(sort of like the Gulf Stream in the ocean) flows directly from Death Valley to Sac., maintaining higher than normal temperatures for that latitiude in that area. This was first documented by, well, San Juaquin, but he wasn't a San at the time, mostly he was just referred to by the local indians as "that nut with a burro that runs around in a dress all the time". The exact passage in "Travels With A Burro In A Dress", published in 1689 by Jose the Scribe, was: "Damn it's hot here". It has never been resolved if Juaquin actually put his burro in a dress at times, or if the title was just a grammatical error.
