I just got back from the Ford Fun Sunday in Vallejo, CA. I was put into a grassy area with Cougers, a modified Pinto, and a couple of DeTomassos. A lot of people stopped by my Grabber to ask questions or chat. :bouncy:

At first I thought I was the only Maverick there, but a woman took me over to see her 1972 Green 2-door V8. It was with her husband's Ranchero. This was the first year they entered the Maverick. It was her husband's father's car, and he kept it garaged all the time, which is why the body and paint are in such good condition. I noticed twin chrome tailpipes and asked if it had been modified. She said she didn't think so, but her husband or father-in-law might have made some modifications to the car. I didn't see the engine. The interior was beautiful, with black high-back bucket seats. These looked like they had been added too, but might have been a special order from Ford.

It was a nice show. Tons of Mustangs, both old and new. Lots of Falcons and Falcon-Comets. Too bad there weren't more Mavericks or Mav-Comets (none). I forgot my camera, so I don't have any pictures.

ahhh, glad there was more than 1 Maverick. Yes, the highback buckets were an option and very desirable nowadays.

Sounds like a great place for a Mini-meet next year. (y)

We really need more Mavericks there. Several local clubs had mini meets. There was a row of 4 or 5 Edsels (what ugly cars they were) right in front. The Diablo Valley Model A club had about 6 or 7 cars. There were Falcon clubs and a pretty good turnout of Cougers.

The show was completely full. If a group of us plan to go next year, we should preregister to be sure we all get a space.

I was going to go too, but both cars are out of commission and didn't have the $$$ to go. So, I will be there next year for sure.
