Just spoke with Ray Parrish, and he sends his greeting to all of you. He is getting his things back in order, and has electricity and phone back at his house. He says the insurance is slow to work, and won't start on the house or his cars until the insurance sees it and settles it all out. Ray says he is definitely fixing the blue Grabber, so he'll keep us updated on the progress. Also, he is trying to get back on the net so he can converse with us. Just glad everything is coming along, and he can get with us soon. Earl
ok i ain't nobody but my heart goes out to Ray and his so tell him i said good luck and i'm glad to hear he's not one of the fatal numbers. steve.
Thanks to all from Ray Hey guys, I wanna thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers. I especially want to thank Earl for his help in keeping everyone up to date here. Like Earl said, I am playing the waiting game right now with the ins companies and Fema. The ins companies are already trying to screw everyone over and the Mississippi attorney general has already filed a lawsuit against them. Aproximately 75-80% of the homes in our city were flooded due to Katrina and maybe 10% of those were in a flood zone where they were required to buy flood ins. All the rest of these guys had no flood coverage because they were told they did not need it. Their homeowners policies cover wind damage and wind driven water getting into their homes such as a blowing rain. They are claiming the storm surge that was brought in by Katrina was a flood. Folks, this was a 25-30 foot wave that came ashore just 3 blocks south of me. I got 10-11 feet in my downstairs. The dealership I work for is about 3/4 mile inland and we still got 4 feet of water in there, which unfortunately was where 3 of my Mavericks were. Anyway, back to the ins companies. Most of the guys that had flood ins will come out okay but I'm not one of them. My flood ins covers my house structure only according to them. The 30K in contents will be a loss, along with my cars. My blue one was the only one fully covered. Anyway, the ins companies charge a $2000 hurricane deductible on your homeowners policy here on the coast, yet they don't want the storm surge classified as wind driven water in order to make the home owners fall back on their flood policy...those that have one. I personally don't know where I'll fall in all of this until my homeowners ins adjuster shows up. Been waiting two weeks for him so far. My flood guy came over a week ago and I haven't heard back from him yet on the structure. Well, it all boils down to this. Mississippi is fixing to be another landmark court case brought on by Dickie Scruggs who is already in the process of preparing a class action lawsuit against these so-called ins companies. Scruggs is the one that brought the tobacco industry to their knees a few years ago with the asbestos suits. His beachfront house along with Senator Trent Lott is two of the ones that got washed away here and they ain't happy. Well, I could go on and on but I need to get offline for now. I'll keep you guys posted when I see what happens. Of course this may turn into months or even years. I'm sure it'll take the coast at least a couple of years to recuperate from this. It is a complete mess. I'm sure most of you have seen photos which is more that I have been able to do. All I have seen is photos I have taken of the neighborhood. I haven't watched tv or seen a newspaper for 3 weeks now and don't know when I'll get either one. We did finally get our power back on Friday. I'll have my new hot water heater in tomorrow so we can get a hot shower again...old one floated away out of my garage. Anyway, you guys don't need to worry about me. We're a lot better off than most people around here. Anyone that lived in a single story dwelling lost everything they owned. I'll check back in with you guys in a day or two...have a great evening.
Ray....let me/us know if you are getting mail from the post office. I have some stuff to mail you from the Round-Up.
glad to hear your doing ok, or as well as you can. if we can help in any way don't hesitate to call on your friends here. good luck.
