    Unless you absolutely must.

I cancelled my order for the rear valance, so I'm back to square one.

I am disgusted with their "Bait & Switch" marketing.

On their website, they list the price of the Maverick rear gravel pan at $60.00.
So right away I'm thinking "what a good deal!", and promptly place my order online. Obviously, there's going to be shipping charges, but since the part weighs only 3 pounds, and it's shipping UPS, I'm not worried about it.

After placing the order, the website informs me that all orders must be confirmed by phone, otherwise they are not processed. I've purchased many products online (I love online shopping) and have never heard of this, but what the heck, okay.

So they call me to confirm my order, at which time they proceed to inform me that the shipping charge will be $45.00! I'm like: "You're kidding, right? $45.00 to ship a $60.00, 3-pound item?". No, they are not kidding. They want 45 frickin' dollars to ship me a 3-pound item that couldn't possibly cost more that $15.00 to ship. Okay, so lots of companies charge a handling fee (Summit charges $8.00) and even mark up their shipping charges a little bit to make an extra buck, but $30.00 extra??!! That's just plain abusive and unethical as far as I'm concerned. I have bought so much stuff online and have never run across this garbage before! Their website should list the actual price of the part, which in this case is somewhere around $90.00, not $60 as the site states. I'm p!$$ed. I was going to make the purchase anyway, because I do need the part, and I can certainly get my hands on $110.00, but it's the principle of it! So I have cancelled the order and now I'm back to b!tching about the prices that people want for used rear valances.

Personally, I think Unlimited Produces sucks as a company. All they had to do was list the actual amount they wanted for the part right up front, and I could have at least made a more informed decision. And what kind of online store cannot confirm orders online anyway?

    Screw them!...

T.L.Tell us how you really feel buddy.....Really come on:D

Seriously though thanks for the heads up. I purchased my Glass Grabber hood back in 98 from U.S. Body source. It wasn't perfect but it was sturdy enough to survive some idiot(uh hem namely me...) from leaving the hood pins out. The hood was more expensive. It was a heavy duty reinforced hood. I sent the fenders back I ordered only because I knew sqaut about body work and they really fit 74 and up and they advertised 70-77. I could now modify them but back then I was clueless, so I can't tell you how they would have fit. Might want to give them a try. Oops never mind they don't offer them as I just looked at thier website. Maybe we could get them to produce them as I need a rear one. I will give them a call and Email. Good Luck and I feel your pain

Consider yourself lucky that you didn't order from them. They sucked for me too.

Has Hell frozen over? I actually agree with you on this.

If you think their customer service is terrible, you should see the quality of UP's products. The hood I got from them was absolutely atrocious.

Believe it or not, they did you a favor.

Personally, if it was a piece I had to have, I would do without rather than spend another dime with them.

I've seen this a lot on eBay lately. They put up a starting bid for .99 but charge $8 shipping. Another vendor will put up the same item for $5 with $3 shipping. Most buyers look at the bid or Buy it Now price before the shipping. Now I add the shipping into my bids on eBay first.

One vender didn't include shipping, and I couldn't figure out how to pay. I was supposed to email him and get the shipping costs for a $5 item. I kept emailing him and not getting any answer, so I threatend to leave bad feedback. Then he left me bad feedback. All his return emails were going into my SPAM catcher. :slap:

BTW if you are thinking about bidding on a car on eBay, the shipping company they recommend has the highest prices. They were 30-40% higher than other shippers, especially for door to door.

On the reverse side, I phoned to buy some items from Auto Krafters. They came to about $9. The customer rep told me the minimum shipping is about $9, do I want to add more to my order. I said I wasn't ready yet, and I'd call back. I called back two weeks later and brought the order to about $100. The shipping for that was $16. I've read some posts here critical of Auto Krafters, but this time they steered me right. (y)

Just an idea, but maybe worth looking into_One day I was laying under my 70 Maverick, trying to figure out how I am going to run the dual exhaust.I look over at my son's 1969 Mach I with the dual exhaust coming out the rear,I look back at the Maverick and I swear they looked like they were the same size.He has a NOS rear valance that he picked up hanging up in the garage.I get it and hold it up to the Maverick, man it is awfully close. Now it is spot welded in and I couldn't get it just right, but I think they would swap.Plus you can find those pretty reasonable. If you knew some one that had one for the Mustang without duals,it just might be worth checking out.Understand,I'm not saying I put it on,but I was going to try it someday.Maybe you could be the first.Someone else might have tried it?

I almost forgot about how Autokrafters rapes you on shipping. I suppose you can do that when you are the only act in town.

I am going to post in on a couple topics brought up:

First, fiberglass companies charge extra for shipping because they have to package that 3 lb item with 30 lbs of stuff to keep the ham handed UPS guys from wrecking it. Most companies charge around 100 bux 'crating fee' for a hood.

Next, watch out for the eBay shipping thing. It is only going to get worse. It is no secret that eBay does not investigate any complaint about shipping fees. A guy recently bought an old Holley carb for cheap, then was charged 83 bux for shipping! That particular auction had this line... "any questions about shipping charges before end of auction will be DELETED!"
That is a huge red flag.

    On Mustang valances...
I have heard that they swap. I don't know for sure!
I have wanted to use a dual exhaust one. Maybe an early GT valance with the holes for the exhaust tips to go out through.

Speaking of shipping charges... don't buy from JC Whitney if that bothers you.
They base shipping on cost, not weight... but if it weighs more than a feather, they add weight charges on top of the shipping by amount of order.

Sorry he won't be the first to use the 69-70 mustang, that's what we have on Tammy's. With exhaust notches :D it fit's pretty good, in fact most poeple don't see the small differences. I also filled in the reverse lights. The 71-73 looks to be more like the mavericks but, it may be considerably wider.

People on Ebay do it all the time. I buy models and look for the inexpensive ones, and about 75% are asking over $15.00 to ship a small plastic model.

I had to laugh when I saw one going for a $1.00 and they wanted $13.00 to ship it.

Well, our business sells fiberglass ATV tops (for Mules and Rhinos). They don't weight much, maybe 10-15 lbs at the most. Shipping COSTS us $74 each. Why? After packing the box full of bubble wrap, cardboard reinforcement, paper, and whatever else it takes to make sure it gets to it's destination undamaged...the thing weighs about 30 lbs (shipping weight). Then, it is not the weight that costs so much...it's usually the size of the package. In our case, the package is about 50" wide, 52" long, 10" thick at the most. UPS charges an oversize fee...which is some un-godly amount, plus insurance, because if one of their idiot drivers drops it and chips a corner, UPS should be responsible....if it is not insured, WE end up eating the cost of it (about $150). And don't forget about fuel surcharges that all shipping comanies these days are charging because of the high price of fuel.

So by the time you add up the costs, it probably isn't far off of what it actually costs. Sure, it's probably inflated, but by the time you conisder all of the costs, it's probalby worth that $60.

UP is crap though. Seen a hood from there that was JUNK! Sadly, they won't accept returns. By the time you end up straightening the darn thing, it'll cost as much as it would from anywhere else...or you could have probalby made your own mold and do it yourself for about the same cost.
