    Hello everyone,

My fuel gauge does not work.. I've tried the paper clip thing and that part checks out.. so it's not the wiring.. where do I go from there?

It's the sending unit in the gas tank then. Don't order one from Auto Crafters either, you'll still be waiting on it 6 months from now.

If your want to send it off to get restored you can call John at (440)942-0083. It's a company that restores sending units & gauges. They can also change the ohms to what ever you want it to work with. They have been around for years too.

If it for your 71 or 74, there are always new ones on ebay. I think 76 and 77 are the hard years to find.

Hmmm...this could be something I have been looking for! Since I am using an '80-'82 electronic Thunderbird instrument cluster, the resistance of the stock Mav sending unit is all wrong. I hand modified the one I have in there, but it is not perfect(will read empty correctly, but usually will not register all the way full when it really is..). It would be cool to get a stock sender modified professionally to have the correct resistances. Do you have the name of the John's company?

Could just be your float doesn't float. Ford and Autocrafters still sell them for about $7. Easy to replace.
