Today I called Autokrafters to order a sending unit for my 75 mav and he said that unit was on hold because people were having problems with it. He also said that he had a unit for 70-74 mavs but he wasn't sure if it would work for a 75.
Will the 70-74 sending unit work for my car. Please help me. Thanks.

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
if you order it for the 75 it is wrong i got one it was backwards.. i sent it back.

so i put a mustang one in it and just rebent the sender to the same angle as th3 stock one.

i don't see why a 71 to 74 wont work you'll just have to rewire it becuase the 75s and up have two connections on it. but then again i might be wrong. i don't think a 1970s one though will work its a whole differant tank.

The 70 unit is in the front of the tank compared to the 71-77 being in the side of the tank

I have recently been working with AutoKrafters to correct their fuel senders. In the new catalog....they are correct. They currectly only offer a 1970 fuel sender...and a 1971-1974 fuel sender. I honestly don't see why the latter would not work on your car.

I bought a fuel float they advertised for a '70. Was for a 71-up. When I called them up and told them they sent the wrong parts I was told that's all they have. And they didn't offer a refund.

If Auto Krafters does not have the sender you need, I still say the junkyard is a great place to get one. As cheap as they can be acquired, you really can't go wrong (that is if you can find one of the correct model year). My "junkyard" sending unit that I got for two dollars has worked great for the past 12 years...

What I cannot figure out is why they don't offer one for the latter Mavs. I can now get brand new gas tanks for '76-'77 Mavs but no sending units. I checked several local outlets and they have no listings for the latter units.

Talk about rotten timing. I just found out today that the Stallion needs a fuel sending unit. I think we'll get one off a jurkyard car. The one in the 77' Maverick was from a junkyard and it has worked perfecly for a couple of years now. It think it cost all of $2.00.

75-77 have a larger tank so perhaps they do not register correctly ...

The man from Autokrafters said that the reason for all of the trouble was with the angle of the tubing. He also said that they had used an original unit as a model for their unit and he doesn't know if the units were different for cars made at different assembly plants or what made their units wrong. He said that of the 65 units sold 20 were returned.

Check out the picture. This was the one they USED to be selling for 74 on up. As you can see....it is WAY wrong. Not even close. I can't imagine only 20 of them coming back.

Check your other post. I'd just buy the 71-74 unit.
