Hey everyone! Thanks for the warm welcome. I should have some pics up pretty soon as well as more info on my AWESOME COMET. It's been a little abused by previous owners and the fact that it was my first car (and what a first car to have!). But she's still beautiful and one of a kind in my heart. Talk at cha later, meanwhile: Drive on! through the back roads with the windows down and the radio a rock'n.

Since your from Riverside you'd be familiar with Banning and Beaumont on the way to Palm Springs. Ya! were pretty small, I mean we have one main street for both towns. Were the crevice between the San Gorgonio and San Jacinto Mountains. But our town is growing like a weed so it may get more familiar pretty quick here. Have a good one!

Howdy, I'm almost embarrassed to ask, but what is a maverick stallion, I've never heard the term, what makes it different? C-ya

A Maverick Stallion was a limited edition Maverick that only came out in 1976. It shared the Stallion name with the Mustang and Pinto of the same year. The Stallion was a special two-toned paint package with the primary color being black. The secondary colors were yellow, red, blue, silver and white. The chrome peices around the windows, tail lights, the boomerangs and windshield wiper arms were painted a semi-gloss black. The grill and headlight doors were also semi-gloss black. Side mouldings, chrome window frames and wheel opening moldings were deleted. They all came with black interiors and could have either 250's or 302 engines. They could also be either stick or automatic. The Maverick emblem on the fender is replaced with a 'Stallion' decal. There aren't too many of them left, but a few of us have one. Dan Starnes has two of them. Take a look in the Photo Gallery on this site and look under Maverick Stallions to see what a few of them look like.

Actually Jean.....all 1976 Mavericks had the Maverick fender emblem deleted as it was moved to the roof pillar in 1973.

You are right Craig. I meant to say that the chrome Maverick emblem was deleted from the car entirely. Hey, it's fun trying to cook and type at the same time.

Thanks for the info on the Stallion. I have never seen or heard of one before. Seems like a bad ass car. Looks awesome too.

    We

love Comets because they are rarer than Mavericks! Better to own both, then no one can claim you're biased. (I've got both, even though it doesnt' show, time to change that I guess) But Mercury's are clearly for the more discerning.
