Ok, latest brainteaser, my car wont (try to) run unless the key is in the start position with the starter spinning. First we thought it was the ignition switch and replaced it to no effect. When i bridge the coil to the battery, the car will run but then wont turn off - obviously - So my dad thinks that its the resistor wire for the coil, cause im still running points. My question is if any of yall have heard of such a thing as the resistor wire causing these problems?
It is the solenoid switch on the fender apron. Had that happen to mine. Autozone or Advance has them for about $10.
Follow up: it was the resistance wire, we replaced it with one from a f150, along with its 40k ignition coil, which increased the cars power remarkably! When i get my next paycheck i shall proceed with the rest of the duraspark II conversion, but in hindsight, my starter solenoid was just fine...thanks anyway, man.
