 Hey everyone whats up? I was referred to your site by 1badmav and Im glad to be here.Anyway 1badmav suggested I become a member and make a post introducing myself so here I am.
I happened across 1badmav's 12 second timeslip and inquired with him as to what it took to achieve the 12 second range. He said I could find the info Im looking for here through the members. Well here is my Maverick
    http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2151919

It's never been down a dragstrip infact I have never had it over 92mph. but as of recent I have developed a desire to just put my foot to the floor and see what she can do.My first goal is 12.99 e.t. then I will go from there.
Currently it's a 302 bored .040" over, mild cam, stock heads that have been fitted with larger valves and polished, headman long tube headers,600cfm edelbrock 4barrel carb,c-4 auto tranny, and what I believe to be my biggest problem with reaching the 12 second range is the 2.83:1 open 8" rearend.
So let me here it,what will it take to get there?! Please be more specific than "Money" As we all know speed is just a matter of money...,how fast do you wanna go? Thanksyou all in advance for anything your willing to share with me.

    Welcome to the site.

You are correct. To get to the 12's you will first need a taller, trac-lok rear gear. Sound's like you've got everything else to get-r-done.....possibly.

BTW, we won't hold it agin' you that Lance recommended you. ;)

welcome to the board. where are you going to race? firebird or speedworld? i race at firebird and sir in tucson. i've run 11.96 at firebird. your biggest hindrance, like you say, is the gears and open rear. after that get's remedied you'll need some good tires. i run the m/t et drag radials. i've run the et streets, but the radials have them beat by quite a bit. next problem i see is you need to lose some weight. (not getting personal) but aluminum heads, radiator, wheels, anything you can remove. move battery to the trunk for better weight distribution, frame connectors are a must if you plan on going down the strip quite often. good luck and look me up if you get to firebird when they are having the team races. next one will probably be the first of the season in jan. or feb. i try to stay away from the friday nights as the track prep leaves a lot to be desired. :):Welcome: :2cents:

:Welcome: Wow another AZ member, I wonder how many this forum has now? We might have enough to make a car meet. Where are you located in Phoenix.

    That's a sweet looking Mav. :)
